To be honest this school needs a lot more. clubs and organizational skills. There has been been many issues with my daughter's graduation. I'm quite disappointed with this school, I had always heard great things about this school but now I think otherwise. I feel like its gone downhill after Mrs. Miller left. There are issues with cords, lack of organization in graduation my daughter and her friends are not excited about it which saddens me because they should be excited about this time in their life. There is a lack of communication between the administration and staff, all I have heard throughout my daughter's senior year is that. The administration makes these new rules and neither the students nor the parents have any idea of what is going on! Sometimes even the teachers don't know. All I know is that I regret, sending my daughter to White Plains High School.
White Plains is a very very good school. They have great disicpline. There sport activities are amazing. This is the first choice i would recommend my kids going to.
i got to whitplains high school and i love it ! yea it might have a few things here and there that need to be changed, but hey thats every school. but we are very above average and we love it. live the leagacy!pride and success.
I' am a student at White Plains and i believe that it is a great school. I have moved to soo many different schools but White Plains is certainly special for me. I've been going to White Plains for about 3 or 4 years. Its like we are all a large Wildcat family. Best school ever, and all of the staff is really hardworking and they care about us.
Great things are happening at WPHS! Mr. Chandler, 1st year principal, is a great leader. He is fair and consistent. He embraces the traditions of the past and also looks to progressive changes in the future. The thing that is holding this school back is a small group in the community who want things to stay like they have always been. IF you are not from WP you are considered an outsider, and many make no secret about how they feel. There is definitely a prejudice, not so much a racial prejudice, but a prejudice against people moving into the area within the community as well as some of the more tenured staff members. Test scores are great and so is the basketball program. Overall, great school.
White Plains is an excellent school, and has been for a long, long time. The bad thing is that the city people finally figured it out and are moving to White Plains. It used to be a school where everybody new each other and it was very personal. I'm very proud that my children are attending W.P. but I really hope it does not grow anymore!
Well I have nothing bad to say about my old high school. I attended there from K-12 and dont regrett any minute of it. Keept it up Wild Cats!
White Plains is far above average compared to other public schools. We had a principal who at times was somewhat overprotective, but couldn't have cared more about the kids! The faculty at White Plains High was fantastic and so energetic!
hey, the over all experience at the high school is below the average public school. I love the above average cirriculum, testing and so forth! As far as issues with name calling, disrepecting others feelings etc...I am sorry to say but this is just as bad as most places...in fact worse. Also, they loose forms and your child is the 1 that pays for it! This is not good!
I sub at White Plains elementary where one of my daughters transferred from a local Christian academy with no problem, therefore I started my kindergartner there directly. They are building a middle school to better accommodate the overflow of children and test scores remain high. Our teachers have a gift of accountability, responsibility, and motivation. They are well qualified and most are continuing their own education as well. Our principal was my teacher when I was in high school, He was young at the time, but did a wonderful job. The parents are great with volunteering and homework help...the only possible thing I could come up with to complain about would have to be the over-volunteering and showing up of parents most of the time there are way to many family members there, not much of a complaint compared to most local schools!
the teachers at this school are very helpful and curteous.the main thing i love avout this school is the atheletics. we have great coaches and couldn't be any better. the training is helpful and crucial, but pays off in the long run. the only thing i would complain about is the principal.
I believe this is a great school even though it is my first year at WPHS. Most people are welcoming and it is hard to find a place to fit in. Most of the teachers are very nice and willing to help in any way they can. It's a great learning atmosphere too. I like it so much better than my other school, but sometimes the admenistration can be a little judgemental about a code of conduct offense even if it is your first.
I am a graduated from White Plains in 2004. If I had a choice I would not have gone to another school. The teachers really care about the students and it shows. I attend White Plains all of my life and I never saw any form of racism. The Principal and the other staff really care about the students. They do get involved in the kids life and alot of children have a problem with that. I personally liked that because it shows that they care and they really want us to do something with our lives. I am now in college and I love it but I really miss teachers that work with me one on one. I would higly recomend the school to anyone looking for a great public school.
For the most part, I like the school. I do feel as if my children are receiving a quality education. However I think there are problems in the administration. The principal and support staff have shown socio economic prejudices which have offended me, but I should note I do not feel my children have born the brunt of this. However state and county comparisons in tests scores have impressed me, as have most of the teachers commitment to providing a quality education.
White Plains is a very good school. It is a place where our children are still taught morals and the value of what being a good honest person is and doing your best to become leaders in our ever changing world. With all the crazy things this world has to offer to pull our children in the wrong direction it is comforting to me as a parent for my children to attend WPHS to become better people from attending this school where the teachers care about the students and are not just there to bring home a pay check like it is in alot of schools. The school is what it is because of our great principals hands on involvement and always trying to make it a better school and careing for all the students not just the ones that have the most money like alot of school.I am very pleased with this school.
