I am a student at Ardmore High School. The fact of the matter is yes, some of the teachers have favorites that are sports players. This school has some great teachers. In fact, most of the teachers are above average. The few that are below average when it comes to teaching are the actual coaches. The students that complain won't generally help themselves. The school is in itself a good school if you want familiarity with your teachers. The school does have a low budget and so it lacks some things. However, with the quality of the high school (not middle school, since the middle school is part of the same institution) teachers, it makes up for it somewhat. You may hear of some of the "Ardmorons" but don't be fooled as most of the people that refer to others that way are generally "Ardmorons" themselves. The school overemphasizes the ACT instead of the SAT. There is also an overemphasis of the graduation exam. Some of the teachers can be strict, but they are the ones that keep control in their class. It's a good school if you want an academics school. If you want one for its extracurricular activities, I suggest elsewhere.

I like this school, but we could use some upgrades, and loosen the leash on the students punishments. I mean, TOT(Tigers On Time), really? They have clearly overlooked that particular topic; if your making the students go to the main office to get a TOT, your giving them more time to roam the halls instead of being in class, thus creating a potentially lower grade average of those students that repeatedly receive TOT's. But I will end this on a good note, we have loads of school spirit and our staff cares about the school, not to mention our athletics and band are amazing.

I am definitely not a parent of a child that attends Ardmore high school. I am aware however, of the bullying that is currently taking place here. My boyfriend attends this school and is an average student who has the potential to excel in whatever he puts his mind to. He is from England and talks and acts substantially different than anyone else there. I think because of his differences, his school is letting him slip by. He is considering taking all Access Online classes next year because he wants to be sure he is not being cheated out of his grades. He and his parents have already had many problems with this and action has had to be taken multiple times with the councilor. I do not believe that Ardmore is a satisfactory school and there is a major need for improvement.

I dropped out of Ardmore after failing my 8th grade year and started home school with Penn Foster. Most ardmore teachers have their favorites, which would be the kids that dont have any problems and their parents have money. I had a problem with alomst every subject and no one helped me, they seen a struggle but never offered help. I also had a accident and had to stay in the hospital for a few weeks and was told that i could do my work there so I wouldnt get behind and fail, well i never recieved any work from Ardmore to do so i failed my 8th grade year. I dropped out and ended up doing homschool and even though I failed a year at Ardmore I still graduated one year earlier with homeschool than what I would had if I would have stayed at Ardmore.

Wow! I just read all of the previous reviews about AHS. As a mom of two, I had one to attend and quit because she was picked on too. I was not pleased with the education she was getting, she was in the LD class and needed extra assistance. I'm not sure how the teachers looked at the situation but I figured they just didn't 'have the time' to teach her so they approched me with the occupational diploma. My child has the potential to excel with the extra help she was put in LD for. I guess she was just another to slip through the cracks of ardmore so they didn't have to fool with her. I now have another going to Ardmore and I'm scared to death that they'll give up on her too. After three years, I sure was hoping things had changed.

I'm Emily B., a 2006 graduate of Ardmore & an education major at UAH. I currently spend 15 hours a week in inner city, Title I schools in Huntsville. Seeing things from this point of view makes me realize how lucky I am to have graduated from Ardmore. Ardmore is a GOOD school. Anyone who says it is a 'bad' school needs to spend some time with me one week. Is it GREAT school? No. There is definite room for improvement. But is it failing? Absolutely NOT. Yes, this school has teachers that are doing a disservice to the community & need to be fired. All schools do. But this school also has many amazing, inspiring teachers that are doing more good than many of you realize. I know, because I HAD THEM & they helped make me who I am today. Teachers aren't the problem; parental involvement SUCKS at this school.

I have nothing but the best to say about Ardmore. I have teo daughters that both attend and I wouldn't want them to go anywhere else.

Three of my oldest kids attended Ardmore, and one is in the Navy, one is a graduate student, and my oldest son is an operations manager. The principal has always been prompt in responding to situations with my youngest who is a sophomore. The teachers are great, my son's ACT scores are a reflection of the great teachers at Ardmore. Need more social events, like school dances.

I have three children, two of which have attended or are attending Ardmore High School. Honestly, if I had the opportunity to send my children to another school then I would jump at the chance. Not being raised in Ardmore myself, I find it to be absolutely ridiculous. If you have money, then your children are treated with respect. If not, there treated like rejects who will never amount to anything. This is not all teachers, some are very supportive. However, they are few and far between. The school is very strict and very close-minded. God forbid a child looks or dresses a little out of the norm. That is my other major complaint. There is supposed to be a separation of church and state in schools. This is not the case at all.
