My daughter has attended Glen Iris since kindergarten and it has been a great learning experience. Her principal gets two thumbs up because he has gone out of his way to bring new things to the school such as the playground and new outside classroom. This is my daughter's last year, and I am going to hate to see her eave this school. It will be a challenge to replace the teachers and principal.

My children have attended Glen Iris for 3 years. The experience has been wonderful. I love the faculty and staff. The teachers not only care about the quality of education the students receive, they also care about their safety. One day my mother was running late to pick up the kids; however, my son's teacher waited until my mother came before she went home. The teacher told my mom that she didn't mind waiting with my kids, she will wait anytime no matter what.

I believe Glen Iris Elementary is one of the best elementary schools in Birmingham. My daughter graduated from there in 2008 and this will be my son last year attending the school. After years at Glen Iris, I have had no complaints.

I am not happy with this school the staff is hard to work with and my son is not being challenged enough. There is very little discipline in the school. All activities at the school is given to parents at last minute. I think this school is only about numbers not about the students getting the education they need.

I think this school has got to be the best one I have ever seen. My children have learned more here than any school they have attended.

My child's experience has been very good. She has been challenged and has excelled. She loves the school and has had two good teachers. She will be in the 2nd grade in the fall and hopefully she will have a teacher that will challenge her to perform to the best of her ability. The most important thing about school some parents forget is the challenge for the child. Parents must do their part and assist the school and teacher by giving our time and making sure that we have properly home trained and public trained our children. There will always be bullies there will always be teachers that will be slack in there duty. Your presence as a parent at the school and events and making your opinions known to the Board of education and principals will help fix the problem.

I wanted to say that Glenn Iris elementary has its ups and downs. One up is that when my daughter had a bully issue it was taken care of. One down is that the teacher who let the bullying slide is still in her current position. The other is the way the parents behave while dropping off their children in the parking lot. The parents have no respect for each other unlike the children do. But the children are going to repeat what they see and hear at home.

Glen Iris has issues for sure, but they are very warm, real people who will teach your kids the best they can. I have been to terrible schools in 'good' districts and vice versa, so don't judge these guys by statistics and test scores.
