Blountsville Elementary School
Teacher effectiveness: Ineffective

Here's the real report on Blountsville Elementary: Its a good school overall, it's just your typical small town school. But being a typical small town school is not entirely a good thing. If you are from here, have family here, or work in the school then you're good. They will actually go above and beyond for your child. However, they do not care about those who are labeled as "outsiders". Your child will be pushed out socially and not cared for academically. And not just by the students, by the parents and staff primarily which is absolutely sad. This is an area and school system that relies on rumors and close minded views, meaning that if they do not know you and can't find anything bad about you or your family, then they will go out of their way to make up in rumors what they lack in truth. Imagine Disturbing Behavior mixed with Varsity Blues. At first you will think you have put your kids into a gem of a school, but soon after you will see the school and community's (which go hand in hand unfortunately) true colors and they're not pretty. Now, the principal is amazing and no one will say different. There are some wonderful staff as well. There are a few teachers that could definitely use some extra teaching courses under their belts.....and that's me being nice. Academically this school is average at best. You will have to make time every week to go over what you child has been "taught" and re-teach your child. Even if your child(ren) were straight A students at another school, you will find their grades slipping in this school because the teachers seem to feel no need to actually teach the information given to those children they deem unworthy based on solely their social standing and their parents'. And I will pray for the parents that have to call the teachers their selves to ask about their child's grades, I will pray that their phone calls go better than those I have made. And yes, you will have to initiate the phone calls. Apparently paying attention to students' grades who are not in the main social clique of the school's is too much of a burden for this school's staff. Also, they do paddle at this school, but very rarely. Well, there it is. The real review of Blountsville Elementary. If you are enrolling your child in this school or have already done so, I wish you luck. As for this mommy, home schooling is in our future thanks to this school.
