This school has really improved with the new technology they put in. The staff is phenomenal and so is the school.

I had a wonderful high school experience at Childersburg High School. My child, who graduated last year, had a completely different experience. The 9th grade year was as expected but with the change in principals, focus was put on getting the unruly under control and the good kids were to just remain quiet. They were even punished more often because administration was not afraid of their parents. Spirit activities were stopped and in my child's own words, it became a prison. In college many of the top kids are having to take remedial math to catch up and are struggling in English and Biology at the college level. Too late for my child but I do believe we can balance the school experience. Reward those who are good, punish those who don't follow the rules...but it takes more work. This means administration may not get to leave the school before all of the teachers. Looking forward to the new leadership!

My oldest son graduated in 2006, and the school was just plain terrible all around. But in the past couple of years since the new principal took over and new teachers have been brought in the school is definitely headed in the right direction. My 9th grade son's test scores in both math and science rank in the 99% NATIONALLY. With the addition of HONORS classes next year I see no reason that he can't be prepared to attend any college nationally and do well. The Athletic Department is also headed up with the new coaching staff. Athletic facilities continue to lag behind other schools in the county.

Has improved greatly since the new principal came in and Athletics are improving too. The football coach seems to know what he is doing as well.

This school system has steadily declined as the state rankings show. Most of the teachers have a very short tenure before bolting for better schools. Lack of leadership in our Board of Education is most of the reason for the dismal performance. The principal, on more than one occasion, would not return phone calls. I had to show up and almost demand a meeting in order to speak with him. Not very professional.

I think Childersburg is moving in a positive direction. I've seen alot of changes since the new principal has been there. Academics are better and the discipline is great. The teachers are getting better as well. Athletics need to be improved but they do have some really good coaches on board..

I am seeing dramatic changes for the good in the school since the new principal , Anthony Wilkinson, came on board this year. I expect to see this school flourish under his guidance.

Academics are really stressed here but extracurricular activities are somewhat lacking. The staff deal with alot of issues related to the community and always try to put the children first. A good school.

This is probably the best school in our county. There is always something positive happening.Academics comes first then the kids can stay busy at good wholesome activities.Anyone who cannot find something to do is just not looking.

I think that this school is a good school for my child to attend. They get a good amount of learning, but the only downfall is that there aren't enough extracurricular activities. There also isn't a wide variety of classes they can take. They should work on expanding classes and adding classes such as art or music.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Alabama used the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE) to test high school students in reading, math, language, science and social studies. The goal is for all students to pass the test.
