We moved to the area from out of state and our son goes to the middle school. I was told Danville was progressive and had made alot of changes to improve their curiculium. If so I hate to think what it was like before! Most of everything here says the school is all about sports, well maybe if you are related to everyone, coaches, teachers, ect. But what I have seen is Lack of coaching and more clicks than a Bic ink pen! And that includes the teachers. My son is good at sports but so far he can't get a break. The coaches yell degrading things at the kids and have their picks, no equality, and if a kid isn't the best well forget the coaches working with them to help them get better, that hasn't happened! This years baseball coach at DMS was a joke! Those poor kids didn't have a chance from the start ! I love living in the area, the people are wonderful, but I am very disappointed in the school.

I attended Danville elementary, middle, and high school; and I can honestly say the elementary school was the best school. I was very involved in high school - clubs and sports. However, I was not a "golden child" because I didn't conform to the views of the principal and VP. The principal is infuriating. He hates any kind of change to the school (soccer team). If you're a woman and speak to him for more than five minutes, he gives off the feeling he doesn't think highly of them. Almost half of the teachers are coaches, and I have seen more than one of them torment and provoke students. I was fortunate enough never to be on the receiving end of the taunting. However, there are a few really awesome teachers that can help you through college. And you're definitely going to need their help, because you're not going to be prepared for college. It's a rural education, if you want to go to a big college you're definitely going to have to work extremely hard; you're going to be very behind. I graduated this school with great friends and an OK high school experience, but I had to do a lot of extra work outside of DHS including or I would never have gotten where I am today.

I am a graduate of Danville High and please allow me to discourage you from sending your child here. Never in my life have I heard of teachers tormenting students as much as some of the teachers here. I can actually remember an instance where a coach made a student run around the gym backwards in front of 3/4 of the student population just so he would fall down. It's disgusting. If you play a sport, you are loved by the entire staff. If not, well, you can figure it out. The administration is a joke. If you are part of the group that the principle likes, you can get away with murder. When I started my first year of college I was totally unprepared because Danville is such a joke. Most of the staff graduated from Danville and know they can get away with anything they want. I will definitely not be sending my kids here.

Okay, in response to some of these reviews: first of all, it's high school. It's not the TEACHER'S job to inform the parent of failing grades but the student's job. I mean they are almost adults so it's their responsibilty to inform their parents of their activity in school. Second of all, Danville does not revolve around football-it's not even our best sport-volleyball and basketball are. Danville's teachers are a mixture-you have those that care and those that don't. The administration is somewat lenient, I'm not going to lie. One thing I wish was different was that the classes had been a little harder, because when I got to college I had no study habits because I never really had to study in high school. School spirit is a non-existance. Overall an alright school. I couldn't have imagined myself going to school anywhere else.

I am a student at DHS,and I would highly advise you NOT to send you kids to school here. The kids are mostly jocks and all they care about is playing football. That's the only thing this school id centered around is football. And if you don't like football or sports then you are shunned from everybody, and people will make fun of you. We dont have many school clubs, unless you play a sport :P The kids are relentless when the find a new victim to torture. It's really quite awful.

I am a graduate of Danville High School and also have children in the Danville school district, including the High School. The majority of Teachers and Administration at Danville are very deficient in progress and making sure that students are aware of the many opportunities that are available for them in many different areas. It is sad that they do not care about the students as they should. There are Teachers and Coaches who make fun of students. The Guidance Counselor has problems with organization. The Principal has issues with releasing funds to be used in areas where they are needed. The Teachers Administration want zero parental involvement unless they can gain from it. Its sad to see how this school has deteriorated over the years. When 90% of the staff went to school at Danville, it might be a problem.

teachers do not inform parent of failing test grade nor do they all update grades into the iiod.ssts.com . they do not want parent intrusion. parents are not issued a list of clubs or their schedules so only a few have the chance to beef up their college resumes.(sports are always announced). bought property 15 years ago, built a home 10 years ago sent children to danville because 'its the best place to send them'. wish i hadnt. brewer has so much more and is a morgan co. school. look at their web site. danville teacher blog hasnt been updated since 10/08.

I have gone to Danville for 2 years and will graduate in May 2008. Danville is not too accepting of outsiders. The kids don't like to open up to new kids and it is hard to fit in. The principals don't do much around the school and some of the teachers aren't better. Their two favorite forms of punishment are paddling or ISS (in school suspention). Neither teach children lessons. This school is all about the sports and nothing else seems to matter for some. When I have children I am going to make sure that they never go to Danville unless things change. The state really needs to give Danville a good look at for some changes. They need to happen real soon. Also they are a little behind in technology.

I think that Danville High School offers alot of great things to all of the students. We do take well to outsiders. The principals do not just take up space, without them this school would just quit fuctioning and there is nobody that can do a better job than the one's currently holding the positions!
