I have two children enrolled here. They started one month at a different school when we lived in a different state. So for the first year they were here they were already two and half months into the school year. They were new not only to this school but from a different state, different people, different everything. This school really helped them adjust well. They love the caring teachers, I love that they are honest and caring about your child's well being. I wrote a number of notes if I had a question, if i wanted a conference, or just to tell them what a great job they are doing that helped my child improve. My children only have one more year before they go to U.S. Jones so I [am] glad they enjoy the wonderful reading and other academics here at westside.

Westside is a pretty good school. My children are enrolled there. I have one issue The special treatment that is given to certain students, if you are not rich or if you have a certain last name you are automatically considered special and smart. if you live in certain neighborhoods you are treated differently, if you are a judge, city official, lawyer or teachers child or grandchild you are great. Any one else regardless of how smart your child is ignored. You all need to stop the preferential treatment every child should be treated special.

Both of my children have attended westside. I could not have been more pleased with the education they have received. Did you know that westside elementary was chosen as a master school by reading renaissance (the company who produces the accelerated reader product)? Not only have they received this honor for the 2003-2004 school year, but they are only 1 of 4 schools in the state of alabama to do so this year. What an accomplishment!
