At the Organic School we are committed to putting the needs of our students first. Academics are individualized and students compete only with themselves. Each child is encouraged to ask questions and teachers are instructed to set their lesson plans aside in order to take advantage of every "teachable moment". Class sizes are kept small and include children of differing ages and abilities. Hands-on projects reinforce key concepts as well as providing practical life skills experiences.
The Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education is a fundamental part of all things that make Fairhope great. The school was founded in 1907 and continues on today. If you walk along the bluffs in Fairhope, you will see bronze statues of Marietta Johnson reading to children. And, you can always visit the Marietta Johnson Museum on School St. to learn more about the history and the principles behind "Organic Education". The teachers and principle are wonderful. Honestly, the tuition isn't bad, it is less expensive than most of the other private local options. Occasionally, they offer scholarships to families who cannot afford full tuition. They have an incredible art and ceramic facility, and my son just loves it. He is excited to go to school every day and is disappointed when he has to stay home on vacation. They even have a program for Pre K 3 years old and up.
