SMES is a fantastic hidden jewel within the Hoover school system. I have three children currently attending SMES, and we could not be more pleased. With less than 400 students, the facilities (including a beautiful new gym, neighborhood park, and awesome nature trail) are spectacular. The teachers and administration are engaged, provide personal attention on each student, and everyone knows the children's names. The curiculum is challenging, current, and fun for the children. My 4th grader had a tablet to use for the second year in a rule ( as does everyone in his class) thanks to a grant fought for by the faculty. My wife is an elementary school teacher in another school system and she is constantly amazed by this school. We decided that we will not move from this area until all three of our children have graduated from SMES!!!

The size of this school supports a good learning environment. The principal and teachers take a real interest in the individual learning of each child. Every part of the school from the principal to the janitors shows a love for their job and for the students. I Love this school!!!!

Great small school. The principal knows the names of all the kids and cares about each one! If your child is having any type of problems she is eager to hear from you. Warm caring environment with some teachers that go the extra mile. We love SMES!

The small size of this school makes it great. Everyone on staff at SMES interacts with your child on a daily basis. The administration, teachers, enrichment, food service, bus drivers and custodial staff are caring and giving.

I have two children that attended SMES from K thru 5th grade. This is such a small and wonderful environment. Everyone knows everyone. I would recommend this school to anyone.
