The administration took the time to go over ways I could finance this school. I am impressed with the concepts the lower campus students are introduced to and the library system. There may be a lot of homework at the end of the day but I prefer that more so than someone simply passing my child through school with little or no knowledge base! This is our first year and my rating is based on the entry experience and not the entire school year.
My child is about to finish K there. We cannot say enough about his teacher and the school. They are good at what they do and have been doing it for 50 years. My child has felt engaged, challenged and nurtured. He begged us to enroll him next year. For my child, worth every cent. Nice to not have the headache of other kid's discipline/behavioral problems etc. The school is not stuffy and students come from mostly hard working families (teachers, engineers, doctors etc). I have attended some fine prep schools in major cities. Believe me, Randolph is as good as any of them and well worth the money. The proof is in Randolph's SAT scores. Randolph's median score is higher than the median score of the 2 best prep schools in Atlanta (Westminster, Lovett).
Not that advance for gifted children. Too many children that get dismissed from other schools go to this school. So much homework makes you wonder what they do in class???
We have been extremely disappointed in Randolph's administration. I would not recommend this school. For the price of this school, we definitely expected more and were very disappointed.
Be prepared to have 3-4 hours of homework a night. The teachers and the education are fantastic. The administration is not the best. Wealthier parents who donate to the school receive favortism in classroom and teacher choices. Some of the children are great, some of them are very spoiled.
I have 2 kids in high school at Randolph now and went there myself 'many' years ago. The school has always focused on academic excellence and it shows in the college admissions stats. In 2007 a new headmaster was hired to build on that tradition while establishing centers of excellence in Arts and Athletics. To support this, the School bought 50 acres nearby and is in the process of building a new $30 million High School facility with new fields, a modern gym and a state-of-the-art theatre space. The facilities are an indication of how serious the school is about bringing Arts and academics up to the level of academic achievement. They have a great time too; my kids are highly social and very connected to the community, unlike when I went to Randolph when it was much smaller. But that was, um, a few years ago!
Graduating from Randolph opened more doors for me than i could have ever thought possible. Getting your diploma from here makes possibilities limitless
For the steep tuition the education level of the teachers at middle and high school level is disappointing. Few and far between are those with advanced degrees. Administrators lack administrative certification and advanced ed. as well. Most parents did not attend independant schools themselves, and thus have little basis for comparison. On the positive side, the students treat one another well and discipline issues are few and far between. Bullying is rare. Sports teams are inclusive, with a spot for everyone.
I think it is an excellent school with a wonderful environment for children to grow and learn!
This prep school offers the best education in town! May not suit all students - students must tackle lots of homework and tests each week. The school demands excellence and will not tolerate any forms of transgression. Students learn at an accelerated rate, and must learn to budget their time wisely. Randolph offers great programs in sports, music, and the arts. Tuition is steep, but well worth it!
