Teacher effectiveness: Very effective

Overall, outstanding teachers with some teachers being selected for National positions with prestigious organizations following their tenure at Springs. When you have students finishing AP Cal in 9th grade, you had best be equipped with instructors with post doctoral work to be able to challenge gifted and dedicated students. Also Springs has one of the highest % of teachers with terminal degrees in their fields of any school in the Country. Those teachers without doctorates are gifted teachers and excel in laying foundations for learning in their chosen fields.

Understand this is a prep school for college, so this has no relationship to public school workload. That being said, in many instances, the college workload will be less than Springs. Do not even consider Springs if you don't think your child is not self motivated to finish assignments timely and balance a rigorous academic and extracurricular workload. There are students who only do academics, but I feel this misses out on part of what Springs has to offer in terms of athletics, clubs and activities.

With all classes taught at the AP level or above, students are encouraged to challenge themselves. My oldest daughter increased her gpa as each year passed and graduated with better than a 4.0 gpa. She worked hard for her grades and hopefully that carries over into college and professional school.

Springs is a boarding school with day students, therefore the relationships students have with teachers goes beyond traditional schools. Teachers may be your house parents and your coaches, but in all cases, teachers are available for outside of class additional help. The boarding element teaches students about getting along with others and sharing responsibilities in the living environment with chores assigned each week to different students performing different task.

The student judiciary handles the disciplinary actions for the school unless immediate action is necessary to ensure safety. Students learn the responsibilities of self governance during their time at Springs, a valuable lesson with great relevance following their graduation.

Assemblage of some of the top educators in the country, along with academically gifted students who are self motivated make Indian Springs unique in the southern states. Ranked in the Top-5 boarding schools for SAT scores 2015 and 2014. Springs students are held accountable as discipline is by other students elected to its student judiciary. The school benefits by being located on pastoral acreage complete with lakes for activities, and has just completed a major renovation of its classrooms and administration buildings.

Terribly disappointed. Drug and alcohol problem DURING school hours. Within hours of dropping my child off, he was offered both drugs and alcohol.

The issue with the school is the leadership. The headmaster and his sidekick are out to run the school into the ground. They only answer to money so if you have lot of that, they will certainly listen. Other than that, they turn a deaf ear to you. But the teachers are wonderful. Academics are adequate - they offer the same AP classes as the public school 5 miles down the road offers for free. As soon as current administration is gone, the school should improve.

Excellent educational experience. Teachers are truly fantastic, loved and respected by the students. The curriculum is rigorous and challenging with many AP subjects available. Extra curricular activities abound and are well organized. The boarding facilities are excellent as is the cafeteria. The boarding program administration leaves much to be desired and was the only low point of our child's experience. Overall if your child will not be boarding - it will be a magnificent experience.

Our son has boarded at ISS since 9th grade as we live in another state. After we developed a short list of schools we liked, we allowed him to choose among them. The culture is one of appreciation for intelligence, good teaching, and high standards. No school is perfect, but this one is far superior to anything within driving distance of our home. We're grateful for the opportunity to provide him with a quality education in the southeast--we thought with our expectations we'd have to send him north.

What a great learning environment!! With 350 diverse and beautiful acres, a superb faculty (most live on campus) with 75% holding advanced degrees, and a small, diverse, student body that is actively engaged in practicing democratic ideals and citizenship, Indian Springs students experience something that most only dream about. With students coming from around the world and many states, statistically Indian Springs ranks among the extreme best in the United States, with a college placement success that makes parents very, very proud. My son has been given real responsibilities in the Student Government, and he participates in all the sports he loves plus the great Choir. The school emphasizes time management skills, which helps with the heavy reading load. This year he is boarding, which really brings all that this wonderful school has to offer into focus. Amazing school. Amazing faculty. Amazing experience. Who says you need a mascot?

The mentality amoung the students is one of academic achievement. The kids compete (in a friendly way) for excellence, direction and college admission. 100% of ISS graduates go to college. Once in college, they find they are prepared. The #1 coment from students is that freshman year was 'easy.' ISS teaches kids to manage their time, which alows them to participate in extra-curricular activities, while maintaining a great GPA. I have 1 student who graduated from ISS 5 years ago, ataining an engeneering degree from Vanderbilt, remaining on the deans list, and is now pursueing an MBA. I have another child who is a Junior at ISS. He is presently focused on getting the best scores he can on the SAT tests -I never have to 'push' him. He is totally self-motivated. He feels that his choice for colleges is unlimited. As a parent, you can't ask for more than that in a High School!
