THE greatschools.org RANKING OF 6 IS INCORRECT PER THE greatschoools.org SUPPORT TEAM. IT HAS CONSISTENTLY BEEN A 10! I am a concerned parent who noticed that greatschools.org consistently ranked Loveless Magnet HS as a 10. After verifying that the test scores for grades 11 and 12 are literally 100% in all subjects, I immediately contacted the support department at greatschools.org on January 26, 2015. Below is their reply: (GreatSchools) Jan 27, 5:15 PM Hello, This is a bug in Alabama, about which we are aware. Thanks for your patience as we look to fix it over the coming months. Max - On January 28, 2015 I requested that a manual ranking be done of the school. Not only am I a mom and Civil Rights advocate, but I am also a real estate broker who has counseled clients for years, especially those with school aged children. Greatschools.org's ranking has such an iron-clad reputation, that many clients have used the site to assist the determination of where they would purchase a home. Hopefully, greatschools.org will correct this inaccurate ranking as soon as possible. Sincerely, MKW / Proud Mom

My daughter was a 2001 graduate of LAMP and I fully believe that she could not have been better prepared for college and life. LAMP is nationally recognized as one of the top 25 schools in the nation! My daughter is now a top executive at one of the largest advertising firms in the world. Thank you, LAMP!

GO TO LAMP!!! I love this school! No, really. It has everything I could possibly want. Teachers and faculty that appreciate each student's work, work that more than prepares you for college, and a bunch of clubs that fit your individual taste. Sure, I am only a freshman, but this school is great and will remain great if it is not merged with another magnet high school in town. If you are looking for a high-quality school, this is the one!

This school demands academic excellence. My daughter loves the enviroment. The principal and teachers are doing a marvelous job. She is now a senior and is well prepared for her college academic experience. Do not send your child to this school if they are not ready to work hard.

My daughter just graduated with a full scholarship to college. This school is fabulous and as long as the superintendent does not merge it with another magnet school in town will continue to succeed.

I am a LAMP graduate. I LOVED my time there! It prepares you very well for college, and everyone in my graduating class received numerous scholarships. I got over $400,000 in offers by myself, and I wasn't even in the top 10. It is challenging, but if you apply yourself you can succeed. As far as social life, we had a ton of activities! Speech & Debate, Band, Sports, Teacher-Student switch days, Class pranks etc. We enjoyed a lot of freedoms that I know for a fact wouldn't fly at other schools. It's because there are no discipline problems at LAMP. All students know they are there for a purpose. If life is what you make of it, so is high school. You can have friends at other schools. I did. You can also choose to make the best of an experience that will change your life for the better. Blessings!

LAMP is an awesome school. Even though our outside building is not attractive, the academics that go on inside is astounding. The curriculm is tough , but you can succeed if you manage your time and work hard. Those who have negative things to say did not want to put in the effort it takes to survive there. Not only do we have an excellent academics, our sports teams are outstanding in their division. The students here at LAMP all try to help each other succeed and the friends you gain while here last a lifetime. We truly are a family. I would encourage anyone to join this school.-G

Lamp Magnet High School was a horrible experience. I was there for one year and I was miserable. LAMP has a good academic program but this excludes a social class. I would never send my child to this school. Also when I moved to another public school in another state, I was not prepared.

Located in an old building, in a terrible part of town, surrounded by buildings that have no windows and are condemned, this school has been ranked as one of the top 25 high schools in the country. It is the top public high school in the state of Alabama. It is not fancy, but the education is unbelievable as are the scholarships these children receive upon graduation. It is proof positive, that teachers can make the difference when they have supportive parents behind them. It is an academic magnet school and is a great place for chilfren. They also offer every sport except football - recognizing that it takes more than academics to produce a wellrounded, productive adult!

LAMP is a wonderful school. It provides and excellent education for no cost. It is an academic magnet school. Although it is ranked one of the best high schools in the nation, it is located in one of the worst parts of Montgomery. They use the little money they do have to provide us with numerous AP courses and 18 Athletic teams.

I'm a freshman now and I love LAMP. The work is difficult, but it will all be worth it in the future. The teachers are always willing to help and the environment is great!

This school is amazing in every way. It is academically challenging as well as it is laid-back and fun. I feel more prepared for college than all of my other friends (that don't attend this school). I have been accepted into Yale and Princeton.

I love this school. I had origanally went to SEHS and my parents didn't like it, so they brought me here. The teachers are so great they always help you with any all problems you confront them with. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone. Thank you Lamp for all you help

Without a doubt, LAMP is a model school. It is everything a school should be. Our son received so much support and encouragement from the wonderful faculty and staff of LAMP High School. If we lived in another town, we would have moved to Montgomery just so our son could attend LAMP.

An excellent school academically, with highly motivated students and dedicated teachers and administrators. The culture of the school not only encourages parental participation, it expects it. Sports are encouraged and applauded, but the focus is clearly on learning.

Absolutely the best college preparatory program in the City of Montgomery, public or private.

As a class of 1995 LAMP graduate, I would like to concur with the other reviews at this site. Without a doubt the teachers at this school do everything in their power to make each student a better person than when they arrived. The critical thinking skills learned here have helped me far more than anything else I have done in my lifetime. While most other schools teach for the lowest common denominator in their classes, the teachers at LAMP will set the bar higher than the students believe they could ever achieve. Then they will help them reach it. I learned more applicable life skills at LAMP than I did in the vast majority of my college classes. I still cannot imagine a better learning environment than the one LAMP provides.

This high school is absolutely outstanding in every way! I have one son who graduated from ALMP and is currently a senior in college (on a full scholarship) and one who is now a junior at the school. The course work in challenging, the atmosphere is safe, and the faculty and principal are top notch.

As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
