If you have a learning disability like dyslexia or ADHD, I would not recommend this school. Discrimination, is just one of the many issues. Also, children with hearing and physical impairments are treated as second class citizens. PS: Get ready for lockdowns, this seems to happen every month.
This school USED to be a great school but now its overcrowded and sucks. The staffs great they do the best they can with little help from the school board, (the school sends the to the board for stealing, bullying etc.. The board sends them back a week later). There is alot of bullying and stealing and things like that going on that nobody seems to know how to deal with so its swept under the rug and continues to happen. This has become one of those schools that you just dont want to send your child to. Again the school staff is great the education is good but its hard to learn anything in the type of situations you have to deal with there. Until the school board becomes stricter and takes these situations seriously this school will continue to go down hill. FOOTBALL IS NOT THE ONLY THING THAT SHOULD IMPORTANT TO CCHS .
This school is known for one of the greatest football teams ever. But as far as the envirement, people are rude to each other and to teachers, there is ALOT of drug usuge, vulgar language and/or harrassment, and having to be here 5 days a week makes it miserable. The learning envirement is okay but I've seen better. This school needs alot of improvement. I've been here for about a year now, and I just hope this school will get better.
As far as the learning, Clay-Chalkville Highschool is a great school. But some of the people that go there make the school look bad. There's a great deal of drug usage there. And it's also a little racist. Not the teachers, but some of the students. But Clay is an overall good school. They have great teachers and you learn a lot. The football team is not half bad either! I enjoy going to Clay Chalkville High. I learned a lot and will continue to.
I loved this school until my oldest was a freshman there. I started hearing stories about the drug usage, the drug testing etc. I started watching the people much more closely that my son was around. You would not believe how many times children have been caught with marijuana, much less tobacco products. The new thing now is prescriptions. They really need to get a handle on this situation. As parents, we can only watch them when we around them. They go to school and should be safe there. I really do not understand how the level of narcotics passes through those doors everyday. Its absolutely heartbreaking!
I attended this school graduated in 2007. Overall this is a great school for academic, athletic, and musical. It has it share of drug issues and fight as do most if not all high schools.
Clay Chalkville is by far the best school that i have been to. Even though, I go to Spain Park now, the leadership and learning experience is great.
My son is going into the 11th grade at CCHS and he really enjoys teh school. I have had no problems to deal with, but I have contacted his teachers and principal on a few occasion and they were more than willing to assist me. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for my son and I would highly recommend this school to anyone.
Clay Chalkville in my opinion is a great school. besides the lack of discipline the school has a great choir ,and band ,teachers are the top in the state, and parents are very involved. But if I could change some things they would be more stricter teachers and administrators and to keep a close eye on drugs coming into the school but other than that i would really recommend this school for your student
I went to Clay-Chalkville High School after being out of public schools for eight years. It only took a few weeks there for me to realize that I was lucky to go to one of the best schools in the state. I think the administration does a fantastic job dealing the upwards of 1300 kids each year, especially considereing the fact that there are only four of them. I think the problem with the other students who have posted hateful messages on here is that they think the school is supposed to be babying them when really, at any school, you have to care about your own future and education. I was not an athlete or a wealthy Clay resident and I am an honors student at Auburn University now. IF your child in willing to make some effort in their own education, they will be fine at Clay.
this school is very political and every student is not treated equally
Excellent School. Great place for a kid who plays any type of sports. Great for intellectual extracurriclulars. Awesome school!
Great administration and teachers! Students are given individuatlized help when needed. County does a disservice by not rezoning. It is overcrowded because the county refuses to place kids in a school closer to their residence. For that reason, it is not where it has been or could be.
Its a great school-but you can't do anything about the county over-running it with all these out side kids from no child left behind and those that are no way zoned in. over crowded-yes! whats sad is this school wasn't where it is now 5 years ago. they just keep pilling them up.
CCHS is a nice school. It's has good variety and great teachers. But the students are real mean and you can get lost easily. A lot of students here get sterotyped and I would reccomend a smaller school.
I believe that CCHS is a wonderful school, the administration problems have been taken care of and the athletic program is great. The only thing that I would suggest is more parent and community involvement. there are few activities in which the parents participate in. overall the school is lovely and I am looking forward to a promising 2007-2008 school year and football season! Go Cougars!
CCHS is rebounding after having poor leadership for a few years. The new adminstration is wonderful. Laney and Coleman are the best things to happen CCHS in a while. Mrs. Cobb is awesome.
People who pulled their kids out of cchs, their kids are probably the cause of some stuff at cchs, im an athlete and i get in trouble just as much as anybody else, the administration is ok but they are trying to do better and make the school better. soe parents just dont give the school a chance. every school has fights and drug problems so u wont escape it where ever u plan to go. i think its a good school, the sports are good especially the girls basketball program, the coach is very discipline and doesnt put up with anything. its a good school I recomend it!
Clay Chalkville could be an awesome school, but the administration is horrible. Students aren't allowed to be independent and have a little bit of freedom. We have been threatened with our diplomas if our relatives or our student body claps for anyone at graduation. In the future I hope the administators change, because they don't trust the students at all.
