Nelson has great potential the school is structured and strict. The only down fall is if your child is not an overexceller they will have a hard time adjusting in this school and at times verges on promoting no self confidence. I am so proud of the children that are above average but this is not the case with all children including my child that needs some extra attention. she gets no support or prasie when she does better than average on her subjects except of course from her parents bc she doesn't do it all the time. She is in no way slow just takes alot more explanation than others. Attempting to contact teacher for extra resources will result in a phone call from the principal that is no help. My greatest advice would be make the best of it while your child has to be there and look forward to a new school. I will add that no all the teachers are poor and cold but unfortunatley that has been our experience thus far. I look back at my elementary years and have such love and respect for my teachers at that time the ones who are there to make a difference and promote greatness in all students. My heart goes out to my child but we will conitnue with great support at home!!

When you want to talk to your childs teacher they don't want to talk to you. It gets very frustrating. Meetings are very hard to come by. They don't like working with you to make the meeting. But i will say my kids have learned alot.

My daughter is in 2nd grade at this school and she loves it!Her AR reading score in the 1st grade was a 3.2. The teachers are wonderful and caring. The principal does her job. The only reason anyone says anything bad about her is because she likes to stick with the rules. But, that is what kids need is rules to live by! Teresa Walden

I have no problem with the school. It is the Principal that I have a problem with. She does not have any feelings what so every about some kids that are not use to going to kindergarden. The ones that just have started to kindergarden and are not use to going to school and some kids need a little more time than others about walking in with there parents. The principal does not work with the parents at all. She wonts it her way and does not wont to go by the handbook.

My child has been treated badly, and there is no cooperation between the principal and parents. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. I'm concerned about my child's welfare.

My son went to this school K-4th grade. Teachers tossed him from here to there because he was always behind in Reading. As it turned out, after I had him tested for learning disabilities, he has dyslexia. The school also tested him, but could not find anything that would give reasons for his delay. The evaluator/psychometrist or whatever she was, never done any of the test. She had the test performed by teachers and other unqualified people. But to top even this, on the day of his graduation, after getting through 5 trying, and very hard years for him, he was not even recognized as a graduate. Only those who had the highest grades were recognized. Mostly the same few over and over, and they should be rewarded. But I thought graduation ceremonies, especially after 5 years at the same school would at least call out names of all graduating students. Disappointed!

My second grade daughter loves Nelson. I must say after talking with other parents with children in different schools I was suprised to find out how much more Nelson tries to find fun and interesting ways to teach and encourage the children. The staff is great. parent envolvement is always welcomed and appreciated. I would highly recomend it to anyone .

My son has only gone to this school for one year. However, in that one year, I noticed that the teachers and the staff were excellent. My son enjoyed his first year, and I see no reason why he shouldn't enjoy the remaining years at this school. The teachers really care about the students and make learning fun.
