Russell County Middle School is filth. The older teachers need to be fired due to a fact favoritism, They need a new principal, and, they need to update their website daily!!!! no one can keep track of their work with this!!! Disappointing.
Dr Ramsey-Patrick needs to be replaced ASAP!!! This is a poor excuse for a school! They purposefully point out children with special needs and do nothing but constantly stay on them so that they retaliate ending up they are the ones that get in trouble! Academically and in all other areas this school is useless not only should it be torn down but all teachers should be fired with the exception of Coach Hunt......great great great man!!!!
There are some good teachers despite the jacked up leadership. The problem is the good teachers are at the mercy of that leadership that must change SOON. It's is definitely the good ole boy hook up. As long as you go along with their program then your considered a part of the in crowd. The one thing about the aweful leadership is the whole tone of the school is set by her and that's bad for the excellent teachers.
Overall a good school. The school need more teachers like Mrs. Benford. She is the best science teacher ever. Very experienced, loving, caring, and motivating. Dr. Ramsey need to get help. She can't run any events. She is very unorganized. Other than that, this school is like any other school. All schools have issues.
My recomendation: Fire the staff, and bulldoze the building to the ground. The land was more productive as a cotton field then a place to teach children.
This school needs better leadership from the top down...our kids and there education are more important than grown folks and their egos.
the entire staff at this school needs to be fired and replaced with staffers who care for the kids.... from bullies to staff who doesnt care for the kids . its time for the issues that have been a problem for the last 10 yrs to be addressed now !!!!
I am a student that currently goes to RCMS and sure it's got it's kinks and whatever, but really it's not completely the staff's fault. The real problem at RCMS is that we get kids with no home training and when the kids come to school here, they come to play and not learn. The students at RCMS, not all of them mind you, are the real problem. If parents would control their kids at home and set higher standards for them than yes, RCMS would be one of the top-ranking schools in Alabama. Also, yes, i am a student produced from the russell county school system and have been going there my whole life except one year that i went to Blackmon Rd. Middle School.
People should be very careful of sending their kids there. Some of the teachers are very petty and they don't help the kids enough. I have no respect for the principal she has done nothing to fix the school as yet.
I will not recommend no one to RCMS school because there is a lack of concern from the principal down to some of the teachers and i feel if you do not have good leadership what do you expect of the kids.
my kid goes to school and they never been to a field trip or went outside and did games.you should get more activities for the kids to play.
I am NOT pleased with this school at all. From bullies to curriculum this school is the worst. Children have been assaulted bullied and the staff does nothing to rectify the situation. The whole staff is just there to collect a paycheck without having to work for it during the time our children suffer from not receiving a good education. we as parents should all get together and go to a board meeting so we can be heard and so atleast bring all the troubles to light and bring on an investigation to FIX things at this school. Changes NEED to take effect, if not OUR children and future students there will suffere from this.
I have a child who has been at RCMS for the last two year. I must say that I am pleased with all the changes that have taken place since Dr. Ramsey has become principal. The faculty and staff have adopted her philosophy that students are the number one priority. The students seem to enjoy school more. I have been told that attendance is up and students are given more opportunities to participate in activities. If RCMS stays on its current path, I see nothing but good things ahead. Many parents who are unhappy with the school are those whose children are behavior problems or they want their children to receive special treatment. Good job. RCMS for taking a stand for education
My son attended Russell County Middle School last year. He [now] attends a school that acts as if they care and is receiving a better education. Please think twice before placing your child in harms way. the education at that school is very poor. Its not worth sending your child there.
I think that RCMS is a very great school and has numerous of fun people and activities and it's all about learning andthen having fun I'm really going to hate leaving going to the High School
I feel that the RCMS needs better leadership. I have two boys that attend this year and it seems as though the current administration is more worried about shirts being tucked in than the education of its students. My oldest son was out of school for three days due to an illness back in the first of November and one of his teachers has yet to assign his make-up work although he has been asked repeatedly to do so. This brings my son's grade point average down and we are currently applying for a scholarship to another school district. I'm sure that won't impress the scholarship committee at all. You can bet if his shirt had been untucked or he had been wearing something considered 'offensive' that would warrant attention from the administration. Priorities need to be re evaluated!
I have 6 children who attend schools in the russell county school district 4 of the 6 have finally moved on to the High School. Out of the schools I am the most displeased with the Middle school. I feel like most (not all) of the teachers do not care about the students and are just there to draw a paycheck. I feel that students are treated different depending on the color of their skin their are different standards set. The middle school started a program last year that was suppose to help students who were in advance classes earn credits toward high school. My child took those classes and needed to take the second half of those classes this school year to get the credits they decided to not continue on with it this year. They should not start anything they are not willing to finish.
It takes great leadership to have a great school. RCMS (RC Jr. high) does not have Great Leadership.
I have had 5 children attending the Russell County School district. One has graduated with 4 attending the middle school and elementary. In the 9 years of my children attending and participating in numerous school activities, I have never encounter a year as worst as this. During the past 9 years, I have spoken one on one with teachers and prinipals, and worked situations out. I dont believe in removing my children from the situation I believe in fixing the situation to a positive atmosphere. The stagima of the Russell County School System will continue to grow and get worst with the continous problems at the Russell County Middle School. Great saying... remove the problems have a great school.
