i am currently a student at ELHS, i'm glad i'm a somebody since i play sports. that is not true, we would be more than happy to have other people join our sports teams, it's the same few people who play every sport. maybe your child is just to lazy to play anything.. you don't come to tryouts.. you don't know how they do there. you do not have to pay $600 dollars to play football.

I am a student currently attending East Lawrence High. I have attended East Lawrence High School since my very first school year. I have all a's and b's. The academics at ELHS are wonderful. They also are getting better as the years pass. The review that says something about having to be a somebody to make a sports team is not true. The coachs pay very close attention to details and listening abilities and a major one is attitudes. Which it seems like the person who left the review has one of those. So that could possibly be the problem. Also the review that says football is $600 is also false. Everything that is purchased in the football program is either provided from fundraisers or from the coachs. Anything extra would be a very small purchase like cleats. They have a very great drug free program also. Overrall it is a very great school.

East lawrence sports : are not a joke. I do not know who wrote that review but i am outraged. You do not have to be a 'somebody' in order to make a team. I am on a few of the teams and i had to earn my spot. Maybe you just werent good enough? Ever thought of that?

I graduated from ELHS in 2006. I actually attended West Morgan when I was younger and to be quite honest East Lawrence was a much better school, as far as academics was concerned.

My (boys i have 3) wanted to play football here. We found out that it is 600 dollars roughly per student! They do not offer any city leagues either! You have to go all the way to Decatur! I think all children deserve to have a chance to get to play any sport! So if your children like sports and you are the average family i would advise you to pick another school!

well if i had to rate this school,i would say its average. i think they need more programs for the student to choose from.not just the basics.they have to have other options to choose from.the teachers are ok overall.i think the schoolkeeps you up to date on your child. and their proformance.and how they are doing grade wise. if their is a problem they address it. they keep an open door policy very well. but its also up to the parent to also. i think the school does an okay job in helping me as a parent.their teachers not babysitters.i think the school needs more programs. thats their only downfall.but thats states fault not the school.for the funding..

In my own opinion, ELHS is a joke for a school. I am a graduate that absolutely hates the fact that when I tell people where I graduated, they laugh. It's true though. If you have the 'name', you will be in good shape, but if you are just a regular student, good luck! To play any sport, which is very very limited, you must be a 'somebody' in order to make the team. I know this from personal experience. I have little sisters that attend now and things are still the same. I strongly recommend another school system if you are going to be moving into the area. It's not a good school! I know from experience!

East Lawrence High School is a fairly good school. The students are very close and know one another well. The students are taught how to be responsible and are given a lot of freedom. The only complaint I have is the Lawrence County School Board. They have moved principals in and out of East Lawrence for years just to get the people they really want at Hatton and Moulton. Good school, good teachers, good atmoshphere, good job!
