I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH VERNER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS AND EACH STAFF MEMBER CARES ABOUT ALL OF THE STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL AND MAKES SURE THAT THE STUDENTS ARE TAUGHT TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY.
I will say that this school is probably one of the best that Tuscaloosa has to offer. BUT that doesn't say much at all. Schools in this district and state are sadly underfunded, and most of the people here haven't been anywhere else so they don't know a good school when they see it.
Teacher at Verner are very effective. They assess students on a regular basis to see what the areas of strength and weakness are for each child. They meet children where they are, and communicate the needs of students to parents on a regular basis, as well.
Students are given extra practice in numerous subject areas on a near-nightly basis. On PTA nights, students are not given any homework so that parents and students can attend without having to worry about getting homework completed quickly.
