Two words as to why this school is overcrowded --Chestnut Trace. We are devastated b/c we moved to this area for the all-around great school system, which has now severely declined. We are trying to move before my children attend Englewood. It's very sad.

I am sure at one point this was a great school however in the past 3 years my children have attended it has really gone downhill I was excited when we moved here to have them attend Englewood because of the reviews however, if it were not for the wonderful teacher, not principal, I would have pulled them out and moved north of the river. I am very disappointed in the school. The principal has little regard for the parents and I feel acts more like they are a burden. This school only has grades 3-5 and still is over crowed, there is no reason they should have let it get so bad, the school should have been torn down years ago, however because it is a county school it was left to fall apart.

We have been made to feel welcome in the 2 years we have been associated with the Taylorville/Englewood/Hillcrest school community. Mrs. Bassett and her capable staff are incredible examples of what is *right* with education in Alabama. I feel very strongly that Englewood is among the best elementary schools in West Alabama, if not in the entire state.

My son is finishing 5th grade Englewood. We moved to Tuscaloosa when he started 1st grade. We have had a great time there. The teachers and staff are great. We will miss Englewood.

Englewood is a wonderful school! Every child is treated special by the entire staff! The children are encourage to do 'their best and nothing less'. The teachers make learning fun! As far as the Principal, Mrs. Bassett, there is none better - She is great! She makes your child feel loved, encouraged, and safe. Englewood Elementary will give your child everything an elementary school child needs to have a fun and rewarding school experience!
