Sumter Academy has made huge changes in the past several years and frankly, I wouldn't send my children anywhere else. Knowing, first hand, what public schools are like, you cannot possibly get from them what you can from SA. Classes are smaller than public schools so teachers have much more ability to give students personal attention. The school was the first in the County with high speed wireless internet. Hence, the school also has a computer lab and other classes are also equipped with computers. The faculty and staff are very accomadating and I've never had a bad experience. The school is operated in a manner that keeps parents informed and involved (if they chose to be). It is a very safe place to send children and faculty/staff do enforce rules and policies. SA has even gone to students wearing uniforms to keep everyone on the same level. Education is tops

I was a graduate of Sumter Academy-our two sons attended until our oldest was in the seventh grade. I'm sad to say that Sumter Academy is not as strong as it was just five years ago. There is little help offered to those math students who are not on the math team. Discipline problems during the 2005-2006 school year were at an all time high and we were concerned for our son's safety. There are no extracurricular activities other than sports. The library is minimal and there is little offered in technology for high school students other than surfing the internet. We regrettably do not recommend S.A.

My son had a bad experience as a transfer student. There is very little to offer academically. No music or arts. Not a friendly place. My son no longer attends Sumter Academy.
