Academic focus and philosophy

Educational philosophy and approach to learning Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School, as an active ministry of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, the Archdiocese of Anchorage, and the Catholic Church, serves to impart and promote our Catholic faith to future generations. By integrating the faith, knowledge and values they gain, Saint Elizabeth’s students will think critically, discover a love of learning, live the Gospel message, reach out to others in service, further social justice, and deepen their relationship with God.

Parent involvement details Weekly principal newsletters and regular emails about upcoming events and reminders. Teachers send weekly newsletters and communicate with families via emails and phone calls and our website is consistently updated. Parents are a member of our PVO (Parent Volunteer Organization) and sign a contract to volunteer 40 share hours a year. We have many activities throughout the year that provide parents opportunities to participate in their child's education which we also post on a bulletin board.
Approach to addressing and preventing bullying Our school has a zero tolerance for bullying. Every year in October, students participate in the 'Circle of Grace' program which educates students on personnel safety and bullying. Every year the principal talks to each of the classes individually about bullying and the zero tolerance. Also, we have brought in outside services to talk to the students about bullying. If an incident is brought to the teacher or principal's attention it is dealt with immediately.
