Trailside elementary is the best school in the country for a number of reasons! The best reason is the care and pride they take in our children's education! I am always informed of my child's progress and am given ideas to do at home to better help them! The teachers get every child involved with everyday activities from reading the lunch menu, to daily class leader. The staff from the Principal down is the best with parent relations! I love to walk into school with my child, and I am always greeted every morning with a smile and a hello! I can not say enough about Trailside! It is the best school anywhere!

Trailside Elementary School is awesome! The staff is what makes this school special. They are amazingly intuitive, responsive, and genuinely sweet. Our principle, Mr. Freeman, is readily available and will instantly intervene when needed for even a problem as simple as a playground spat or a parking lot issue. If you ask something of him, he is there! Our teachers, gosh, it is hard to even start the list. Ms. Fossler, wow, is all I can say about her. She is the total package in a teacher, compassionate, understanding and this even though she is demanding in her expectations. I witnessed her teaching on many occasions and was shocked by her ability to be able to address an issue right in the midst of teaching. A great example and so very simple, while working in her class one morning I witnessed the following: She was teaching and a child burped, of course the first graders immediately started giggling and without skipping a beat, Ms. Fossler said the following, 'Children, burps are a natural way for the body to expel gas.' Then she went right on with what she was teaching. The class responded by immediately getting back to the subject at hand. My son and I both fell in love with her! Mr. Thompson, what a sweet heart, big smile, happy most of the time. A good solid second grade teacher. Mrs. Keller, our third grade teacher. We are only a few weeks into the school year and I can tell you she is amazing. Immediately responds to any issue or question you may have. I believe she genuinely loves the children! We feel privileged with the teachers we have experienced. I am not going to leave out Ms. Bender, our music teacher, just awesome! Ms. Rand, our librarian, Mr. Meier, gym teacher, the cafeteria staff, Sandy at the front office, and I am sure others I have left out! These are the teachers and staff we have experienced first hand! Not one has been second rate! My son is my 3rd child to have in the school system in Anchorage. He is my first to go to Trailside. I am just amazed! Trailside should definately win this contest!

Trailside Elementary is the best school my children have ever gone to. With my husband in the Airforce they have been to five differant schools. Trailside by far has had the best staff and pricipal. Trailside parental involvement is wonderful and appreciated. The overall climate of this school is great. They come from a possitive reinforcement rather than negative. I am truly proud of our principle and his leadership and active involvement in all of the children's lives and how the school functions as a whole. A job well done! Teacher's are the best around!!!
