Academically. Great school, great kids! The community experience as well as low student/teacher ratio create an atmosphere of possibility that is exciting and inspiring. Teachers, parents and students of Skagway need to continue to support each other and encourage excellence in all things academic and athletic.

No Crime, Caring Community and Faculty, low student/teacher ratio, wonderfully happy students, excellent Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, Cross Country, programs.. ....the problem is that accademically, average is the goal. A's are given freely and bright students are allowed to skate. College Prep is poor. My rating is on the accademics rather than the entire school experience.

I have been going to the Skagway City School District for 13 years, and it really isn't that great. Sure we have the highest test scores in the state, we have a 100% graduation rate, and the teachers have masters and work one-on-one with every single student, oh... I guess we are pretty good!

Small classes allow for lots of one on one interaction between teachers and students. Extracurricular activites for elementary is extensive...basketball, wrestling, drama, ski club, band and choir.
