This school is perfectly fine. I've had 3 years of great teachers (a decent mixture of gen/Honors/AP) and all admins and counselors have been helpful. Its unfortunate to see some negative reviews but my one tip to prevent problems would be to take Honor/AP classes. You will find the most dedicated students here and classes will go a lot smoother. The teachers here also perform a lot better because they have students that actually want to be there.
This shool is complete garbage . Lots of things happen that admins do not know nor try to figure out .
Boulder Creek is an outstanding school for a self-starter to get that "next level" education experience they are looking for. The school is structured to mirror our society in America, where hard work is rewarded. Attitude and citizenship, as well as scholastic excellence, were encouraged in my son's classes. Academic, athletic and extracurricular studies are as good as the student cares to make them. I applaud the staff in acknowledging individuals who are there to learn and grow.
This is our thrid year and I now understand how everythign is fine until you need assistance from the school. I do not mean assistance because of a bad student, I mean an Honors/AP/Dual Enrollment over 4.0 GPA student. Whatever you do make sure you follow up on Dual Enrollment, as my student was told everything was fine and he was in the class for a semester to find out somehow the test was mis-placed or not taken, and "Dual Enrollment" for college pre-req was lost and they will NOT get credit. Very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My children attend Boulder Creek High School in Anthem and I must say I am not at all in favor of new common core changes. I feel the school system does not teach our children what they really need to learn as it is. The only thing the district as well as the State is interested in is high Aims scores and not teaching our kids the core of learning. Teacher's tell the students that the computer is there best friend and they can get there information from there so if a computer is teaching my child why do I pay tax's for a school & teacher that DO NOT perform there jobs. I feel you need to work on your teacher's first then you just may see the results form the students you are looking for before you go and change even more to our childrens education. And furthe more you say the new common core changes are going to be more confusing and the children will have more homework which is the LAST thing these kids need. They should be doing the majority of the work in the classroom with a teacher that can help them, not at home were the computer teach's them or us parents are left to help them when we have NO idea what they are doing. The school system in America is broken.
The teachers have been great to my son. He has been able to stay after school and get extra help and that has build his confidence level greatly.
Boulder Creek is a wonderful school with so many positive things happening. Sadly last week, we lost a student to a terminal illness. While we are all really sad about her passing, it was so uplifting to see the campus of teenagers, and staff and community members come together in celebration of her life. The choir sang at an impromptu candle light vigil and 198 singers (out of 200) showed up in support. This is just one example of the JagNation pride displayed at our school. Thank you BC jags for demonstrating your love and compassion. It gives me hope and a positive outlook for the future.
My daughter attends BCHS and loves the teachers and her counselor is just amazing. Yes there are too many student's in this school however the PTA works in unity to provide a safe learning environment.
I just finished my first week of school at Boulder Creek. I love it! The teachers are nice and the classes seam interesting. At lunch I got a pride ticket from the Principal because I was dressed in jaguar print colors and showing school spirit. There was music at lunch too and everyone was having fun. I think this will be a great year.
i moved here from Texas and i was excited and opened up to meeting new people, and ready to start my life. But when i started trying to meet new friends they just all blocked me off and ignored me. The boys are ridiculous and act like wanna be gangsters, everybody is into smoking and going to raves. The girls grab the boys in inappropriate places. This place isn't ideal to what i thought it would be. people don't respect other people and the place is overly crowded. I'm begging my parents to take me out. My sister is a freshman and she likes it because their still kids. But upper classmen are not role models at all, and I'm afraid that my sister might turn out like one of these airheads. Oh and freshman friday is real to immature seniors and juniors. I don't recommend this school . Academically however is wonderful, but the students are bad.
This school is the best school I've ever been to! The classes are very interesting and the teachers really care about their students. The variety of the classes are very large. There is something for everyone. The school area is very modern and cultivated. The infrastructure is very good and new and they have for example a very healthy cafeteria. I have always felt comfortable when I attended this school. I would recommend it to everyone!
I've been a student at Boulder Creek for two years now. I came from a small school, so Boulder Creek was a drastic change for me. By drastic, I mean horrendous and bitter. My experiences here have been good only in my academics; my peers are anything but role models. Most of the guys are wanna-be gangsters who act higher than all, and most of the girls spend their free-time cutting other girls down. I've had numerous instances of bullying and exclusion, because our school is full of cliques. The teachers are fantastic and really care about their students, but the students are inconsiderate, irresponsible, rude and inappropriate. I can't stress enough how much I dislike my peers, and feel constantly judged. Very few parents are involved in their child's education, and parent teacher conferences are often quiet and uneventful. I give administration and the teachers a great rating, for they have greatly helped me, but the environment is anything but beneficial.
My daughter attended Boulder Creek for one year. She was bullied throughout the year, and the Administration's attempts to resolve the situation were completely ineffective. We removed her from that school after she was physically assaulted. She is now at a charter school and is much happier, as are we, her parents. After she switched schools, I heard from other grownups that Boulder Creek had a lot of problems. My daughter took some special ed. classes, and the special ed. teachers were great, but the bullying was out of control
I am constantly amazed by my colleagues at Boulder Creek High School. They are always working to provide the best education possible to every student. Teachers are inventive, creative and believe in the vision of the campus: Act locally, Think Globally, Collaborate Digitally, Educate Wholly. Just today a math teacher used skype to host a classroom conversation with students in Germany. The Chinese and art classes teamed up to learn about sumi-e painting. Students in the brand new science facility learned about medical conditions effecting Arizona. The government classes held a mock debate between the potential candidates for President. The student government sponsored an amazing assembly with the band, choir, cheerleaders, dance team, and athletes. The best part of the assembly was when the student with special needs was the hero of the wrestling skit and the entire school cheered for him. Tonight a student band is performing a concert with all profits going toward support for a student suffering from cancer. Tomorrow the varsity girl's soccer team the varsity boys basketball team will play in front of a packed house. What a fabulous place to teach and learn!
I am the grandparent of a special needs student at Boulder Creek High School. The staff and students treat him with respect. The teachers are amazing and really do care about the students. This high school has had some negative press in the past, but just come on campus and see for yourself how hard everyone works to to ensure safety and education for all students. If you think it is easy running a high school, just volunteer in one for a week and you will be amazed. I think the principal (Lauren Sheahan) and the administrative team is fabulous.
I attend boulder creek. dvusd has seriously slacked in ensuring qualified teachers over my 8 years with them. if you need extra help, do not attend this school. if you do not like opprobriously disrespectful kids, do not attend this school. if you do not like teachers who do not care for you, do not attend boulder creek (there are two teachers i have had that actually care about their students out of dozens). just a little insight from the inside.
If your child is ethnic descent not the school for your child. The students get away with racial epithets, intimidation, and continual harassment. What makes it even worse is that they make your child feel as if they are the problem. Also school is full of wanna be gangsters from a higher socio/economical class. This is really amusing! The school has drug issues due to the parents who are self-centered and are busy with their own personal anthem housewives agenda. Most students have no courtesy or discipline. So if this sounds like a place for your child be my guest.
The honors and AP teachers are wonderful - inspiring and providing a top notch experience for students.
BC is amazing! I learn a ton especially in English class and Spanish. In these classes the teacher actually make us think. I am glad to be a student at BC.
When I attended this school, I thought it was subpar, but however after comparing it to others public high schools and some private ones, Boulder Creek is amazing. Teachers are knowledgable in the fields and push students to work hard. My college roommate was the valedictorian at an unnamed private school, but does not know what party John F. Kennedy belonged to or how to use a unit circle in trigonometry. I would recommend this school, unless you want to instil Christian values into your child, than a private school is recommended. As far as shady characters, all schools have them and Boulder Creek probably has fewer due to it being in a wealthy area.
