Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I withdrew my daughter after a year of kindergarten. Over the summer I realized she had no math skills and had to put her in a tutor program just to catch up. The lack of security is appalling as I saw one student prop open a side exit door in the hallway (with his teacher at the end of the other hall)and remained that way for 15 minutes before I approached another teacher stating that I was uncomfortable about it. She was very surprised and when addressed it to the teacher in question-she disregarded it! I had to talk to the principle- who btw is has been replaced by someone new- who was also alarmed and told me she would talk to the teacher. Since we left, there has supposedly been some new changes with the new principle-probably b/c so many students left. Ironically, the student whom I was carpooling with and another student who was in my daughters previous pre-school- both left and we, as parents, had all made the decision without the other knowing it!!! Granted, they did usher in a new principal so hopefully, improvements will be made.

My child attended Caurus Academy for the past couple of years but we had to leave after having a bad teacher this past year. This year we are at the local Deer Valley public school and I can see how little he learned in the past year. My child is now behind other classmates because there is no writing or grammar program at Caurus. For Science, there was 1 science book for the entire class. Caurus is a school that has smaller class size with some very caring students/parents but it also has quite a few students that can't make it in the regular public school (renegades). Before you attend Caurus, be sure to research all your options. Caurus is all smoke and mirrors.

Do you know that the teachers have not been paid since the beginning of May? We cannot keep good instructors if they are nor fairly paid.

We have had nothing but great experiences with Caurus Academy. The school treats you like family and the Teachers are all very interested in helping the children do better . Best school in Anthem if you ask me. Kids are taught respect and get an education at the same time. Classes are not so full that the kids are pouring out of the rooms like in the public schools. Definitely top notch in our Family' s book. Mrs Rides is a great principal and you can tell that she not only cares about the kids but also there well being in other aspects of life. Ms. Lisa the art teacher is the most incredible person I have ever met. She loves teaching art and enjoys the kids as much as they enjoy her. Truly a blessing to find a school like this in Arizona.

We have only positive accolades for Caurus Academy. The entire staff from administration to teaching assistants seem to genuinely care about the students. Academics are top notch and challenge students at an age appropriate level. Communication between the parents, students and staff is encouraged and more than welcomed. The school promotes positivity, kindness, self-motivation and personal responsibility among its students and families. Our family definitely feels a strong connection with the school and our other children can't wait to attend Caurus Academy.

Excellent school! Can't say enough about it. My daughter was there for 2 years before leaving at the start of the 2012-2013 for another school she had been on a wait list for. The new school was not a good fit for her and she was fortunate enough to be able to return after winter break. All I can say is everyone from Admin to previous teachers welcomed her back with such enthusiasm. My daughter once again looks forward to and enjoys going to school. Check into Caurus if you looking for a school where everyone knows you child's name and has that special, warm and welcoming feeling.

LOVE this school! I have 2 children attending and couldn't be happier. The staff is excellent and my 4th grader went from always requiring help with homework to working independently! She is challenged and engaged and making straight A's! My other child is in Kindergarten and absolutely loves it! She loves going to school and loves doing homework. It's so refreshing to see my children excited about learning!

My daughter attended Caurus Academy for the 2011-2012 school year. She excelled in all of her subjects. The most important aspect for me was that she had some health issues that required a 504 plan and the staff could not have been more accommodating or genuinely concerned about helping my daughter succeed. Her teacher, Ms. Rides, Mr. Taubman and Meisha (the best front office employee I have ever had the pleasure to know) were all amazing in their support and kindness.

I love this school. The best staff! As a parent you want to know how your child is doing and what he or she needs to work on to improve academically and socially. This school works with the child and the parent to enhance your child's desire and ability to work hard to be the best they can be. Only wish they would open one at Carefree and I-17 too! This has been a long way for me to drive before and after work every day but my child is worth it! Excellent before and after care program too! I don't only love this school, but so does my son!

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! My son have attended for 2 years going on 3. He's had caring teachers that keep me informed of his progress or when he messing up. I like to know that so I can DO MY JOB as a parent more effectively. I would rather nip any problems in the bud then only hear about it during Parent Teachers meetings. My daughter is going to attend this Fall and I look forward to meeting her teacher, my son's teacher and saying hello to a Wonderful Principal that knows her students by Name. AWESOME! I am from NYC public Schools so I Demand a higher educational standard for MY kids here in AZ. Caurus Academy fits that Bill!

I love the school because of the great teachers. I am very involved in my child's education, so I do like receiving calls from teacher advising me of progress. That way come report card time you are not shocked by your childs grade. You will always know where your child stands academically. As for the principal, I dont have much to say.

We got a very negative teacher , can't keep up with the kids behavior . If you love calls from the teacher for lack of her leadership and control issue , maybe this is the ideal school . NOT FOR ME .Teacher will call at anytime during the day till night!! no matter for whatever issue . Teacher does not respect the parent, not tactful . ONE NEGATIVE FOR THE K/1 teacher .

Let me put it simply, this school is terrible. I attended for three years and i was failing every year, I'm a freshmen in high school, but right now I should be in sixth grade this school messed me up so bad. My 4th/5th grade teacher was a huge feminist, almost though she didn't want the male students there. I'm telling you, DON'T even consider this school

Our daughter started at Caurus Academy in August 2010 and she loves her new school. Her teacher is wonderful and she learning so much more than she did at her neighborhood public school. I love the fact that there is a classroom aide and that parents volunteer in the classroom.

We have been very happy at The Montessori at Anthem. The teachers are respectful of the children and expect respect from the children. The children become self motivators which is what Montessori is based upon, in turn building self esteem and self respect, all while growing and actually enjoying the day. The teachers are watchful of the children and help them along the way with good relationship techniques and with choosing challenging work. The projects my children come home with are amazingly detailed while also fun. The children are learning so much more than they are even aware of being in the Montessori environment. We are glad to have this school in Anthem.

I have been at this school for over 3 years and have seen so much progress with the new staff. I am very pleased with the progress and the fact that they have P.E. and also spanish this year. This school is great and the staff really cares about the students!!

This is my sons first year at Anthem Montessori. He is in one of the 4/5/6 grade rooms. He likes it so much more than the public school he was attending. His teachers are wonderful. The principal is great. He does have a lot of homework and he has to do a lot of projects but he is so much happier this year.

I am a huge fan of this school, and have recommended it to many Anthem parents. My daughter is currently a KDG student and will continue her education at this school, as long as I live in Anthem. I only wish they had a playground...

I strongly do not recommend this school. The students are rude and the curriculum is very easy. Teachers dont' handle problems. P.E. is too much, also.

I have two children that attend this school. My children have learned so much both academically and socially compared to other children their ages at different schools. I am very pleased with the educators at this school and the fact that the school is secure. If I ever want to volunteer or observe I schedule a time that works for myself and the class and then I go into the classrooms. This is a great school if your students are self regulators, and as a parent you monitor your student's progress at home and throughout the year, not only at grade report times. I truly believe that schools in general are what you make of them, and to those that only blame when things didn't go your way, that is a lesson that your student is learning as well.

I do not recommend this school. My children only attended for 5 months, when we left, both of my kids were behind academically. Also, the management does not want to handle or deal with teacher problems.

They are far behind academically. My son never brought home any work. I was not allowed to speak with the teacher about this after school. There are no extracurricular activities. The director is very cold. There is very little communication and a serious lack of professionalism with the staff.

I would definitely not recommend this school. My child was only at this school for a few months before I had to remove him. One teacher in particular is extremely negative, and this teacher has been teaching for several years. The teachers have difficulty teaching students with diverse learning styles. They cater to students who are independent learners. The other students are left behind. I saw very little patience among the teaching staff. In addition, I walked into the office one day and overheard a very negative conversation from a group of teachers during their lunch hour. I said nothing, but I thought what a lack of professionalism! The students have very little homework which is not necessarily a bad thing, it is just difficult to know what they are doing all day. The projects the students do are probably one of the best things the school has going for it.

Great school, excellent teachers. We love Montessori at Anthem! Our youngest has been attending since August 2006. He is doing very well there and it's so wonderful that he can work at his level (he's very accelerated). We are so impressed with Montessori at Anthem that we are transferring our 2 other children (from the local public school) to this school in August 2007.

New teacher for grades 2 and 3 and new Director are just a few of the positive changes at the school. My son came out of sn overcrowded public school and is just flourishing in this new environment. He used to hate school and learning, but now loves going to school. Small class sizes also means more personalized attention. Downside is that there are no extracurricular activities or clubs, but overall it was the best decision for our child.

My son attended the public school here in 2004 and hated it. The second week of school 2005 we moved him to this school and he has flourished. He happily returned this year. My 5 year old also is going there this year and doing very well. It is geared more toward the self motivated, but its 'curriculum' is such that most kids there are eager to discover it. The director this year is wonderful and I love all of the teachers. I feel the quality of the academics are great. The school has art once a week. There is no music, sports, or other extracurricular activities, but our community center offers everything you could possibly want. I would encourage parents to check this school out.

I see improvements are underway, with a new head mistress. The teachers seem to really care about the students and they are trying hard as a fledgling school. But it is definitely for the self-motivated, independent student. The student gets out of it what he/she puts into it. It's not a school for kids who've had problems in public school. It's a school for kids who genuinely want to learn. The case for us was that our daughter was farther ahead than most of her classmates in public school but she was overlooked because she didn't need special 'help'. She just wasn't being challenged in public school but this little Montessori school has worked out well for us!

This school is just not up to par. My child attended last year and left with huge gaps in her education. There is no structure or discipline at this school and no concrete learning plan for the child. I say to stay away, consider yourself warned.

Worst experience. Headmaster for 2004-2005 had no leadership ability whatsoever. Teacheers were not Montessori certified. Parents were encouraged to come to the classtroom to read to the class. Educators did not place a huge emphasis on reading themselves. Unsafe play environment.
