We'll have two daughters attending Agua Fria next year and couldn't be happier. The teachers are helpful and supportive. The student body is very supportive of each other, which has a feeling of family, or at least a close knit community. The motto is "Honor first. Win or lose." and they walk the walk the walk at Agua Fria.
This is an awesome school. I think most people are juding afhs by the area it is located. My son is a senior and I hope he has the kind of instructors in college that he had at afhs. They are very caring and very interested in the students welfare. I almost hate to see my son leave here. The staff here are so kind and helpful. Always get immediate reply whenever I send emails
I am a present senior here at AFHS and in reading these ratings I agree with some! I think that the AFJROTC program is the one and only thing here that deserves 5 stars! The bathrooms on campus are often closed for unnecessary reasons or out of order. Some dont even have doors. More times than not while walking down the hallways and past the bathrooms you can get contact high. Everybody says that all the money goes to the athletics but i am an athlete and we hardly have any money. The teachers are good for the most part. The Chief and Col. are really educated, and Haley is the best!!!
this school is great. the teachers are always focused on the students. the sports are great. and i liked the way the school got involved with the students. iwas concerned because the area that its at is not the best. but the school turned out great
This is my third year at AF and it is amazing school. The administration is very involved along with the teachers, and in return students are motivated to participate in extracurricular activities and academics. A student can feel safe in this friendly environment where there are hardly divisions amongst students. This school as a history of striving for the best. The only improvement that could be helpful is funding school equipment like Verrado (Agua Fria District), because all Verrado has is expensive equipment. Despite the fact Agua Fria actually deserves it through its seniority, achievement, high number of students and persistence towards academics. The district office may make poor choices as to how administrate the money, even then Agua Fria can cope with anything and always rises on the top.
this high school is great!
This school has it's problems, more then a few of those are almost entirely in the hands of the parents. People can blame who ever they want for the institution's short comings, but in the end it is up to the student to learn. I am tired of schools that hold students hands through high school. I like many before me have achieved so much at Agua Fria, and those who do not can only blame themselves. I have learned more than academics at Agua Fria, i have lived through what it takes to succeed in the real world. Not some fantasy that we try to create.
the campus is great!! they have updated the bathrooms and everything else, if you were to see the campus you would know that time was put into it! the school is amazing, yeah maybe some of the funds go to athletics but they fiixed that and the teachers love to help the students, they want everyone to become successful, my time there was the most best experience. i am sad that i can not graduate with my class because i have moved. but i am dedicated to my owls and i am not attending any other school, i choose online rather than another public high school. i am an agua fria owl class of 2009 and always will be and i am proud to say that
I went to Agua Fria for 3 years. My sophomore year i was in texas and couldn't wait to get back. The teachers here are amazing. The ROTC program rocks. I have been to a couple high schools and this is the one i felt at home at. Teachers really do care about their students, or at least that is how i felt. I think they could use more funding for things like a home coming parade. Considering we are the oldest and we definitely deserve one more than Verrado (who's coming home for them?!?!?) But i loved my experience at Agua Fria. and Mrs. Velasquez (sp?) Was an amazing help in preparation for financially getting ready for college. I am proud to say I went to AF Class of 2008!
I have a child who is entering their third year at this school, and both my child and I have been saddened by its steady decline. If your child wants to learn a language other than Spanish or German, you'll have to find another school. If your child has creative interests, make sure the class hasn't been cancelled due to lack of funding. My feeling is that too much funding is being funneled into athletics and long overdue campus improvements and not enough into academics. The students bathrooms are often closed for repairs that never seem to come. AF feels like the red-headed stepchild of the district, unloved and underfunded.
