My son has attended 1st grade at Bales this year. While the staff and teachers seem nice enough I do not feel that this school expects enough accidemicly out of the students. In the month of December the children have done little to no school work. I think my sone could excell if just challenged a little and I do not feel that Bales is challangeing my child.
This is the first year that my two children have attended Bales, one is in first grade and one in fifth. Both children are learning at a good pace, have homework nearly every night and communications with their teachers has been open. Our fifth grader is an advanced learner and with continued support and communication with my husband and I, her teacher has gone out of her way to make sure she continues to learn at an advanced pace. We have always been notified of any problem areas so we can support the teachers in assisting our children. We are a team, the way it should be.
I have a third and fourth grader who started at Bales this year. Children have assembly every morning to boost morale and are given an agenda to bring home daily detailing what they did that day. Parents are to sign it and children return it to school. Any notes from or to parents are included in this agenda. This is wonderful since I spent all of last year trying to get my daughter's teacher to send home a daily or even weekly note to let me know if she had homework. The teachers at Bales have been very caring and understanding. My fourth grader had been in a classroom for children with behavioral issues and was supposed to go back this year. Instead, he is in a regular classroom with extra help when he needs it. What a wonderful school!
I think bales and buckeye elementary school need to help tutor their students in subjects such as math and reading. These kids never come home with homework my daughter was in the 2nd grade going in the 3rd this year and when she did have homework it was finding shapes around the house. I don't think that is very educational for a 2nd grader maybe a kindergardner and it seems like these kids need a little more. Teachers want parents to help their kids with their problems areas from school but how do we know what the problem areas are if teachers don't send homework to let the aprents know what the students are doing in school. There are alot of improvments that need to be made. I hope they get recognized for the childrens sake.
