Great school. My kids love it, academics are accelerated. expectations are high and the teachers and parents are involved.
My daughter attends this school and loves it. The teachers and parents are very involved with the students academic, religous and personal growth. Issues in the classrooms are handled immediately. Neighborhood is a bit old.
On paper they look good, but in the realty It's worse than public schools. 1- It's a catholic school were they are suppose to teach good principles and the love of God, but the environment is loveless and empty. They director and the teacher don't care at all for the children that need help, they only focus in the ones that excel. They teach rules & rituals, but not love. Because of this they have mayor problems with bulling and teacher being over strict with students that need more help (screams & hit heads). 2- Academically, the classes are not organized & crowded.Teachers don't take time for explaining and teaching. They use out of date methods & the only reason they have good ratings in the state exams because they study only for those test. Please when looking for a school go interview them and hear what your heart tells you.
This school was a little disappointing, and seems to be declining. Left this school last year. Many of the teachers and staff are parents of the kids that attend the school, so those kids get most of the resources. Encouraging parental involvement is great, but there are limits-too many over-involved parents can be a negative. The kids are well-behaved, with orderly classrooms.
I previously attended St. Marys for nine years. My experience was not all that bad there. The teachers at St. Marys were fairly decent and seemed to care about their students. The same teachers taught at the school year after year. St. Marys filled its students with good morals. However, in more recent years, the school has gone from being a good, respectable school to being a total sham. My brother who presently attends St. Marys is special needs. We have made a great effort trying to talk to the teachers to find a way to accomodate him. However, our attemts have proven to be utterly disappointing. The teachers don't care to take the time out to help him. (continued..)
I transferred from public school to St.Mary-Basha, and I couldn't be more disappointed. This school was to restricting and the teachers didn't seem to care about the students' personal problems or worries. The teachers also are very stereotypical about students who have straight A's and average graded students they assuming that the straight A students are never rude to their peers or pick on them.
Execellent school. Excellent academic program! My daughter went to St. Mary Basha for all 9 years, K-8 and my son is currently attending. I wouldn't want them to attend any other school! I love that parents are always involved and a true community environment and all children are well disciplined!
We have sent all four of our children to St Mary Basha and are very pleased. The Principal, Sr. Mary Norbert is an outstanding educator and leader. Parental involvment is unequaled.
The SM-B has one of the best staffs a catholic school. Principal is Sr. Mary Norbert, she is very accomplished. Language arts programs and Computer lab are excellent. Science program is good. Math and R.E. programs are average. Facility and neighborhood are older. Expect to be involved in the school as the Second Vatican Council stated in the Declaration on Christian Education: As it is parents who have given life to their children, on them lies the gravest obligation of education. They must therefore be recognized as being primarily and principally responsible of their eduction. The role of parents in education is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitute.
