As a teacher at New Vistas, I can confidently say that we take into consideration what students need globally to be successful in today's workforce. Students must possess three types of skills, basic academic skills (reading, writing, arithmetic, mathematics, speaking and listening), personal qualities (confidence, responsibility, self-management, sociability, and integrity), and thinking skills (creativity, problem-solving, reasoning, knowing how to learn). These are my goals for my students to achieve while they are with me. Every child is wired differently and the learning styles, strengths, interests, and skills needing improvement vary. I learn my students' skill levels, guide them to set goals, and help them achieve those goals. There is no ceiling at New Vistas to what children can accomplish. If this is what you would like for your child, please check us out! I believe you will find a loving, HAPPY environment. Teachers keep their certifications current with the AZ Dept. of Ed. If there is a teacher not yet certified, it is because our Directors see a natural gifted teacher! We trust the discernment of our Directors. Contact us for an appt. Enjoy!

New Vistas is the school I was looking for, providing a culturally diverse, strong academic program. Also, I am happy to find extra-curricular classes of Robotics, Chess, Chinese Language Classes, Math Olympiads, Choir, Jump Bunch, and Theater. Teachers get to know families. It is an excellent school for our family.

Several of the teachers have no formal training in education, and they are not required to be certified teachers to work here. It seems that some of them are previous aides that became "teachers" when the need arose. We weren't all that impressed or willing to pay tuition for another year.

I love this school! My oldest so. Will begin his 5th year here. I am excited that my youngest will also be attending his first year this fall. This school has an advanced curriculum unlike any other. When I compare what my son is doing to kids his age in other schools there is no comparison! The students at this school are a year or more beyond their current grade level. Not only are the students advanced, but they have grouping within each class as well in several subject areas. There is the classroom teacher and an aid in each class at all times. The staff also gets involved to individually help students. They have am individualized reading program and teacher. You can tell that the teachers and staff love their jobs. My son is so happy at this school and I am so glad I am setting him up to be successful.

Excellent school for advanced/gifted learners. Allows children to work above 1 grade level ahead -- they can work 1, 2,3, 4 or more grade levels ahead. We love that they take the time and work with each individual student. There is a good mix of students and the teachers are all highly qualified and caring. My son loved the school and fell in love with the environment right away. Their dedication to the children and their educational needs far exceeds that of another public, charter or private school in the nearby area.

My child just finished up a year of Pre-K at New Vistas. The school is very academic - lots of worksheets. I wasn't too happy about the tuition. After registering, I realized that the payment schedule included 10 monthly tuition payments, but that the school year is only 9 months long. They got started around August 20th, and they finished on May 22nd. The school also takes a lot of unusual holidays, like the day after Halloween, an extra day at Thanksgiving, and a day off in May after parent-teacher conferences wrap up. So, not that easy for the working parent.

This school needs more clubs/organizations, and sports teams. Also a bigger P.E. room. There needs to be more activities this school provides rather than just academic excellence.

This school is the Best!!!!!!!!!! I have a very happy child in Kindergarten, he loves his teachers, the school, loves his work and does not feel pressure or overwhelmed. My son is able to advance at his own pace, is reading well, doing math and loves it. I learned not to to judge a book by its cover. Don't let the look of the school decide for you. Instead, sit in one of the classes, talk to the children, the parents, the teachers. The school might not be immaculate in every aspect, but the level of education that the children are receiving should be the deciding factor. This school has great teachers, the education is the best, kids and parents are treated with respect! The school is nice, clean, comfortable, and ready for learning. A+++

When my child was in the lower grades, I loved this school and felt it was the best choice for us. But once he reached the middle grades I became extremely disillusioned. It was all about endless worksheets and endless consequences if a child wasn't "the best." I never felt that the teachers were interested in why a child might be falling behind and what could be done to help. It reached the point where my child was afraid to ask for help from his own teachers because they refused to accept that he really didn't understand something and would send him back to his desk. My son lost his love of learning and his confidence because his success was tied to a stack of papers.

I love this school my 6 year old was doing 4 grade math in kindergarten he can add, subtract, multiply and divide he speak English,Spanish and Chinese. He won a couple trophies in chess and can read music. If you have a gifted or very smart boy or girl this is the place for them they don't put a stop on learning just because of the grade or age.

This is an amazing school! My daughter is just finishing up kindergarten. She is reading at a 3rd grade level, doing triple digit addition and subtraction with carry-over and borrowing, learning about various world cultures, and speaking sentences in Spanish. And it hasn't been wearying or a burden -- the kids have fun singing songs, doing crafts, enjoying art, playing, and even a field trip to a local museum. There is homework but it is given in a packet style so you time manage to get everything done by the end of the week. The kids are happy and well-adjusted, and each child is pushed to succeed, but not in a scary/harsh way. It's done in an encouraging, "you can do it!" kind of way. My daughter loves her teacher, the class aides (each class has one aide full time), her gym teachers, her Spanish teacher. In her classroom there are no bullies or mean kids, and the teachers are very aware of behavior. The school is multi-cultural. Just this morning, I heard these languages as I walked my daughter to class: English, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, Arabic, Greek, Chinese, Japanese. (Parents are friendly and involved, and often stop to chat after drop-off.)

My son is in preK at New Vistas. He's learning a lot, but what I like the most is the warmth of the teachers and their enthusiasm. I expected great academics, but am so glad of the nurturing environment that goes with the academics. I think the reading program is great, and my son also has PE, music, and Spanish. He enjoys going to school and has made lots of friends. The other parents are great, too - supportive of their kids and welcoming.

The asian parents that spend time in the school to be with their kids are treated with disrespect. A majority of the students are asian and the staff and administration are very condesending towrds them. If adults are mistreated imagine the treatment the asian kids get. I took both my children off when I witnessed the bad treatment towards my own. If as a parent you have the time to teach and help with the random bunch/packets of work sheets and reading assignments at home each night so they go to school to get them graded by aides, then this school might meet your needs. The teachers do not have sincere interest in really 'teaching', its just tasks and grades. textbooks are archaic and the teachers and their relatives that handle classrooms are not very qualified and most do not have education related to pedagogy.

Imagine a school in which the excited interest of students is matched by the committed interest of staff, and you have just described New Vistas Center of Education! Here, small classes and an emphasis on individual learning lead to high academic expectations and results that transcend normal grade levels. New Vistas has achieved the perfect balance: a challenging curriculum carried out by a compassionate staff; the eager participation of students, and outstanding parent involvement. A. Williams

New Vistas Academic program is really good. I admire the fact that they have 1:1 reading program for every kids thrice a week which I havent seen anywhere. The kids get lot of challenges which is really good to show and improve their skills. Some recommendation for improvements! THough I do think they could move to a better campus where kids get more space for play ground, parking lots, lunch areas. Also their communication to parents is another area where they can improve to make it a better place. Like if they have an incident at schools It will be really better to communicate both sides of parents than the parents getting info from the kids. Extending their after care programtime in school (atleast for younger ages)which is more convenient for parents than outsourcing

New Vistas Academy is a wonderful addition to the public, private and charter school options in the East Valley. The small classroom environment and familial feeling between staff and families adds a charming quality to the structured, challenging, and individualized curriculum. The school was founded by women who wanted to offer an alternative to the schools in the area, and in that tradition, teachers have joined forces to form a top-notch school, led by highly qualified staff who still strive to make New Vistas a home for those families looking for more than the regular elementary education. The curriculum is accelerated, which in turn means more focus on academics outside of the classroom as well. Many families seek out a highly competitive curriculum that will challenge their children and give them the edge for the rest of their educational career. For families who are deeply dedicated to their children s educational progress, New Vistas Academy is an excellent foundation for a lifetime of learning success.

My complaint is more to the human factor of this school. My child had an incident (4 stitches) and not only they DID NOT have a nurse practitioner on campus, they DID NOT HAVE FIRST AID KIT. Well, the principal told us later that they indeed had one, but I guess we weren't good enough to waist the bandage on us. There was no follow up what so ever. No talk to the parent of the boy at fault. No courtesy call from the stuff. If you can overlook my personal experience, lack of gym, the fact that the playground is located in such way that KIDS HAVE TO CROSS THE BUSY PARKING LOT every day, NO SECURITY (anybody can walk in, and I mean anybody, no cams and considering the neighborhood the school is in that's the must), then I guess it might be the school for you.

New Vistas Academy represents all the finest attibutes of human character. Their school is the embodiment of "don't judge a book by its cover". Admittedly, they do not have plantation shutters and greek pillars, the real beauty is in the administration, teachers, devoted parents & children. The curriculum is challenging and customized to every child's ability. My daughter is now excelling in math and reading. I know when she graduates New Vistas we will value the superior education and loving relationships for life. New Vistas is located near downtown Chandler, an area of town that is developing with new City offices and a thriving downtown community. Their campus has open air walkways so kids get a little sunshine as they pass to classes and are supervised at all times. New misters and green grass make lunch bright and fun.

Both of my younger kids attended New Vistas Academy from Pre-K through 6th grade. The cirriculum was very broad and provided my kids with an excellent exposure to a wide range of topics. The student body is very international which gives kids an exposure to a range of cultures. We found the cirruculum to be challenging without being excessive. Both my kids went on to the IB program at Chandler High School and the education they acquired at New Vistas more than prepared them fo rthe rigors of this program and AP classes in general.

New Vistas Academy is an absolutely wonderful school. Having been raised overseas and educated in some of the best schools in the world, I had despaired of finding something like that in the US and in Arizona in particular. Our son has been at New Vistas for 2 years and will be entering Kindergarten this year and we love it. The curriculum encompasses a wide variety of topics and is very challenging. It does not teach down to the children, but instead, elevates the children to the top of their potential. It is amazing to me how much individual attention the students receive as well, allowing them to develop and learn in their own ways while maintaining the high standards expected there. It is a truly amazing school, offering a well-rounded education and unlimited opportunities to the children who attend.

Dear New Vistas, Thank you for your gift! It definitely caught me off guard, but then again that has always been a hallmark of New vistas to care for and to love it's students, past and present. And I can't thank you all enough for that love because that has definitely made a huge impact in my life and the lives of the other 2004 graduates. Specifically, you taught us that there is more freedom to pursue our dreams when we are disciplined and hardworking and that we should never ever stop learning, exploring and growing. I can't thank you all enough for that rock solid foundation and I hope New Vistas will continue to give this all important gift, second only to life itself. God Bless!

I spent 6 years at New Vistas, and in the time I was there not only did I receive a superior education I received it from caring loving teachers. That's incredibly hard to find these days. The office staff there is also amazing, they have a great family atmosphere. I sincerely feel that the education I received there instilled in me the proper skills to succeed in life today. I am just about to graduate with my Bachelor's degree and am planning to receive my Master's from Berkeley, and I am 110% positive that I would never even attempted to achieve such great goals without the outstanding educational foundation I received. And I am absolutely NOT one of those rich kids that supposedly gets everything handed to them. I worked hard to be where I am today and there is NO way I could have done it without New Vistas.

I was pleased to find this website so that I could post my opinion regarding New Vistas Academy. My son attended your school several years ago and has continued to succeed in his education. He was challenged appropriately and guided by a caring staff. I was always impressed by the ability of the Directors to always do the 'right thing' for the student. New Vistas is an excellent school, where your child will receive an outstanding education.

I am a New Vistas alumni, currently in High school. If you want your kids to grow up with very little and confused academic foundation, no social skills and the inability to be creative and think then send your kids to New Vistas. There were 11 groups in my math class of 18 students. Nothing was taught by the math teacher. Most of the teachers are there to socialize with the rich moms and take care of their children. I have major gaps in math and language and do not have good skills because of New Vistas. I have to re-learn a lot of things and overcome the gaps in my understanding. If you want your kids to be successful, keep them away from this school. This school is only for the rich kids who dont need to do anything when they grow up.

New Vistas is academically superior to any other school in the East Valley. Looking back on my decisions as a parent, sending my three children to New Vistas is one I do not regret. I feel very fortunate to have found New Vistas and privileged to have had my children there. My children are all strong academically because of the foundation given by New Vistas. The curriculum is tried and true, and the teachers are highly dedicated, caring, and effective. Mrs. McFadyen s Home Reading Program is exceptional. When visiting preschools, I found no place other than New Vistas that gave children the freedom to grow academically without the restraints put forth in a typical classroom environment. The administrators and staff are wise and nurturing. If every young child in America could have a beginning like New Vistas provides, how wonderful that would be. New Vistas Academy is truly exceptional.

My son is entering his second year at New Vistas, and he has improved in both his reading and math skills. Although the environment is very academic oriented, it is operated in a very nurturing and loving way, so that kids become confident in their abilities. I highly recommend New Vistas to other parents who are looking to have their kids challenged and nurtured all rolled into one.

This is a great school for academics. My son went to preschool here for the 2nd year of preschool and he learned by leaps and bounds. he even learned to read! The environment is highly structured and the teachers well experienced. They teach a grade level ahead - so in the 2nd year of preschool, they completed the KG curriculum. I like that it is private but nonsectarian. The only downside is that there are no extracurriculars.

My son is a current student at New Vistas and has made unbelievable progress since he started in August. Teachers are excellent. One thing I like about this school is that they let kids be aware of all current events sometimes I myself won't remember/ know. Teachers were always there to answer you. I am so happy that my son loves going to school.

As a parent of a current New Vistas Student and of an alumni student, I cannot praise New Vista enough. The supportive teachers they have chosen made being at New Vistas is like being part of a family. I found the administrators and teachers all had my two childrens' best interest at heart. The work load was always manageable, and the couple times my older child felt overwhelmed the teachers adjusted to meet personal needs. That is what is amazing about this school, they curtail the challenge level to each child's needs and abilities. I must say looking back over the years my now 14 year old child learned the foundations of accountability and responsibility from the teachers at New Vistas. These foundations have been an integral part of success in a challenging honors curriculum. If you want your child to find success in higher academics this is the place to begin!

As a parent of a first grade student, I can tell you that my child is working well above a typical first grader and well above the state standards! New Vistas Academy has outstanding teachers who know and love their students very much. My child absolutely loves coming to school every day. They have groups for math and language and whole class for other subjects. The teacher makes learning fun by completing awesome projects with writing, demonstration speeches, famous persons reports, and more. My child has learned so much about other countries and their culture. Her reading is so far above what other first graders are doing and she is working at a third grade math level. Her homework is review of concepts that have already been mastered and is age appropriate. If excellence in academics is your goal, this is the place!

As a father of two children currently attending New Vistas, I am impressed with the level of work that they are doing. Their writing and math programs are incredible and our older child who graduated and now attends Chandler Prep Academy has validated for us that New Vistas prepares students for jr. high and high school very well. Our older son has outperformed his peers on the AIMS test and I know it is a result of the excellent beginning he got to his education at New Vistas. Our two younger children are working above grade level and we couldn't be happier. This school has been a blessing for our family!

My older child is going into the upper grades next year and I am looking forward to even more success. She is confident in her abilities even though she is not at the top of her class. She is able to work at her true potential. I am thankful to the staff and teachers of New Vistas for providing such a safe and loving environment. I would not have my kids at any other school.

Our 4 year old made incredible progress at New Vistas. She went from not close to reading to reading very well in less than one year. I have to admit I was worried about whether this school was going to be worth the price. I was also concerned about my child being able to keep pace with the other students. Our experience is our child's teacher is very skilled at her craft and has a way of helping children understand concepts at an early age. I have been extremely happy with the progress and see our child improving on a regular basis. It's true there is homework daily. It typically takes about 30 min to complete. I believe it helps our child retain what they learned earlier in class so I have no problems taking the time with my child. Expensive but a great school.

If you want your child's self confidence level to run all time low then this is the school to go to.They give out loads and loads of homework that a child doesn't have any time to enjoy any other activity in life, even the weekends are packed with homeworks and projects. The irony is teachers never explain any part of homework that is being sent home.It is parent's responsibilty to sit with their child everyday and spend four or five hours explaining their homework.I've seen teachers not taking any interest in student's progress.I wonder if they are qualified to be the teachers. If you want to enroll your child in this school, make sure you have five hours everyday to educate your child, forget about any vacation or extracurricular activities. You'd rather homeschool your child and see a far better results. From my personal experience I suggest everyone out there that this school is not worth the price.

I will not recommend this school to anybody. They have groupings within thier classrooms and only the top group students who are only few in number are getting benefitted from this school.I've seen kids performing worst than any public school. They give out homework on the subjects that have never been explained in the class and way beyond student's capability that creates nothing but frustration for student as well as for parents. All the classrooms are small and congested with 23 or 24 students per classroom. It doesn't even look like a private school, lacking library, cafeteria and playground. The students have to eat outside in extremely hot summers of Arizona. They keep on increasing the tuition but provide no facility to students. The quality of teachers is on decline. Most of the teachers are there so they can keep their own children in school and stay close to them.Certainly not worth all that money that they are charging.

My son attends preschool at New Vistas and has made unbelievable progress since he started in August. I was concerned that an academically based program would be too much for him, be he has responded very well. The teacher keeps me aware of where he is at and what areas I can help him with. At this age, his work is not graded so it is all about learning without worrying about passing or failing. I am so happy I gave the school a chance and think that it is worth the money.

I am a New Vista's alumni. I am the person that I am today because of New Vista's. I was taught there to take pride in being the best that I can be; not only as a student, but as a person. This has been a wonderful school for my 2 children. The small class sizes and grouping for certain subjects make each child able to work at their own pace without feeling rushed. The One-On-One Reading program is exeptional in teaching the younger children to read and helping all the children focus on comprehending the stories. This school works with reaching each child's potention. If one child learns the material fast, there is no need to keep him/her back. The students move at their own pace. My daughter's kindergarten class had 13 kids! My other child's kingdergarten class had 16 kids! Plus, there is always an aide in the room. So, 2 adults per classroom (the maximum class size is 18 kids!) The class sizes are small to promote as much individual attention as possible. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is searching for a great academic environment.

I have sent three children to New Vistas; one until the 3rd grade, the other until the 5th. My son is currently attending Georgetown University where he has continued studying history and politics. Where did he begin his love of history? Why, at New Vistas Academy, of course. His kindergarten teacher painted such an exciting picture of the Revolutionary War that it was natural for him to continue with it. My 2nd son is currently in high school studying human biology. He first studied human biology at New Vistas. He gained his love of science from New Vistas Academy. My daughter's love is fashion and math. She won the math championship in her second grade class and no one can shake this confidence. Her teacher this year is one of the exceptional ones. She always called my daughter to task but in a loving way. Pricey but wonderful!

One of the most important jobs we have as parents is to give our children the best education we possibly can. If you agree, then New Vistas is the right choice. This is a very small school with only academics. It is like Private tutoring like KUMON etc. I feel kids should explore to all different areas not only academics. You can send the kid to KUMON, tutoring which is same as this school.

At New Vistas, academics comes first, as it should -- at any school. The academics is quite demanding, and the teachers adjust their level of instruction to the kids' abilities. When kids are challenged, they have an innate ability to stretch and adapt. We are often amazed at how the teachers keep raising the bar while keeping them engaged, and how well the kids, including my son, respond.

I have mixed feedback about New Vistas. If you are a parent who has 3 to 4 hours every day to sit with your kids and educate them, teach them and do their homework for them, then New Vistas is the school for you. If you don't have this time, I can tell you from personal experience that your kids will loose the most important thing they need for life - their confidence.

We love the school for its high standards of academic work. Teachers are all dedicated to their work, communicate excellently with parents. My kids adore them! The only negative about the school is the lack of proper play ground, and extracurricular activities need to be supplemented by us. Small price to pay, though, in exchange for the excellent education my kids are getting.

The school is small. However, the education their are focused on reading. It's the school where lots of cirruculum in class activity are put there quite well. The teachers are however excellent in communicating with parents. Although it seem overwhelm sometimes with homework. Parents have options to communicate it with the school board and get it resolved either by giving less homework or providing corrective action without any delima between teachers and parents, which I think it's an excellent way to resolve the issue. At the end, kids like the environment, and they are given to ultimate opportunities to learning.

Since this schools goal is academics there are really no extracaricualr activites except a chess club so if you are looking for that you may have to look for outside programs.

The quality of academic program is excellent. My two kids (5th grade and PreK) go here and we like it very much. Teachers are very motivated and the atmosphere is great for learning. I like the school giving a lot of importance to reading comprehension, writing and math.

This school provides a very warm and friendly environment. The teachers and staff know so many kids by name and everyone is greeted everyday with a warm smile! My daughter is in the 3 day preschool program and is already reading better than most 1st graders I know. They have teachers who truly care about the students and love to watch them suceed. The only drawback I have found with this school is the tuition price-- it is pretty expensive. If you can afford it, I recommend you taking your child here. They will learn a lot! It is a fantastic school!

Really a good school if you are looking for a curriculum. Lacks a good play ground, in fact has no play ground at all. But good academics.

New Vistas is academically outstanding. If you want your child to have a great headstart in education, don't hesitate to send your children to New Vistas Academy. A positive, warm environment thanks to the dedication of the owner and director Carol Elias. New Vistas has been a strong force in the academic community for over 28 years.

I have had 3 children at New Vistas through Kindergarten and loved the education they received. Although my first two children do very well in school and thrive for challenge this school would be frustrating for any child who struggles with school. I also would not recomend the school past Kindergarten. The school lacks things like good PE programe, music, art and anything beyond, reading and writing.

If you are looking for a pure academic school, this will a best bet. But the school does not have much physical activities. It is a little pricey though.
