I have two children that attend Hull. We absolutely love this school, the staff is exceptional and I believe go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. I am amazed that the front office staff seems to know everyone by name that comes through the front door. Each of the teachers that my children have been fortunate to have are excellent communicators, and truly care about the children. We chose this school, and my children had been attending on a open enrollment basis. I see the atmosphere as very positive and enthusiastic. I am proud to be associated with this school and the staff.
My two children attended Hull this year and I have been extremely happy. The teachers have been excellent and the administrative staff are very helpful and friendly. I am in the school volunteering at least twice a week and always feel welcome and appreciated. I am confused by earlier comments that parents have felt differently. I have not had much contact with the principal, but I have found her to be friendly when I have seen her and I have not heard anything negative, except for on this website. I have a son with food allergies and the cafeteria staff has been terrific. Instead of feeling different because of his allergy free meals, he feels special. It is clear that the lady who runs the cafeteria loves her job and the students. I would highly recommend this school to any parent.
For years this school has been declining. The principal is a complete joke. Maybe one day district will take a good look at how and what she is doing. The teachers to some degree are excellent and that depends on who you get. Some just ignore the "problem child" and there is no recourse if there is a problem with kids on the play ground. Its like the kids run the school and play ground aids just sit around and do nothing.. There are other schools in the area check them out.. I will be so glad when my child is out of there this year
My daughter has been going to this school now for 3 yrs and she absolutely loves the teachers that she has had each year. I, too, felt her teachers each year showed a real compassion for their students and how well they were retaining the cirricullum being taught. I hope she continues to get great teachers until she moves into junior high. I haven't had too much dealings with the principal or the office staff but what I have observed is that they need to show more patience and enthusiasm to ALL parents that walk through the doors of Jane D Hull and not just the FAMILIAR faces of parents that the happen to know. It makes those other parents feel "not as important". Well, we are!!
My son has gone here for 4 years and it keeps getting worse. The principal is a joke. I volunteered for 3 years on a daily basis and never even got a thank you. Avoid this school and their rude principal and office employees. We will attend a charter school next year.
This is our 4th year at Hull and I have to say we are DONE! My child is a very good student and gets along with all peers. This year has proven to be very unsuccessful. He his picked up terrible study habits as his teacher has the "do it later" approach. The principal is a joke! She does not back up the students if there is a situation, wand ill never take responsibility for any wrong-doing by a teacher. She has run off many great volunteers and their families from the school. We will be going to a new school Fall 12/13 and can't wait to finally be a part of a new successful school.
We moved here in July and was extremely nervous for my son to start with a new school, since we have never had to move before. My son is in 6th grade and he absolutely loves this school! He loves his teachers very much. He talks about them daily and looks forward to going to class. He looks up to all three of his 6th grade teachers. Being we came from a very small school, I knew that he would be challenged acedemically. Since his first progress report, he has had all A's! When I ask him what has helped him get such good grades, he responded to me "his teachers have helped him find ways of how to learn better". I have little interaction with the school and have only had communication with the secretary and three of my sons teachers and are all very pleasant. We are extremely fortunate that they have made our adjustment a wonderful experience. I high recommend this school.
As a whole, Hull Elementary is a good school. However, during the four years my child has attended Hull the main issue I have is with the arogant principal. She thinks that she is never wrong, nor is her staff. Instead of making the volunteers feel welcome, she beats them down. She never takes ownership of an issue, she passes the buck and hides behind her staff. She has run off so many families and volunteers that the numbers are down significantly. There had to let a kindergarten teacher, a 1st grade teacher and a 2nd grade teacher go. She does not know how to manage people or befriend them. She is extremely fake and will backstab anyone to get out of a situation. The way she handles requests for one on one meetings with the principal is by telling the parent that the meeting is not necessary. Time for me to look for another school because of this principal. There are several other families who feel the same way. Not sure why she treats her volunteers this way. Guess she will find out how to run a school with no volunteers - - and that will probably happen faster than she thinks!
I found the school disappointing because my first experience was a bit of a "snafu". I had turned in an application for open enrollment and was given a great and warm welcome. I even got a tour of the school on that same day. The next day, I was told that they were not having any open enrollment and denied my application. I called the school district who helped me with the situation. This bad start did not help establish trust with this administration.
We recently relocated to Chandler. We carefully researched the area we wanted to live in. We chose to live near Hull because of its excellent reputation. It certainly has lived up to everything we had read. You could not ask for a better Administration staff, teacher staff, etc. And, we are very please with the academic standard.
The dedication of the staff and the committment of the parents make Hull a great school. I feel completely comfortable bringing up any issues I might have to their caring staff.
My child loves attending Hull, I enjoy going to her class and helping out too! The staff is awesome and very helpful!
The teachers are amazing from the Principle Cheryl all the way down to the office aids. I have never felt more welcome at any school. And they way they drive the kids is awesome. What kid loves to take tests, and yet my son's teacher has a way of getting them totally pumped up to take a test it's great!
My grandkids go to this school and it is a wonderful school. The teachers are great and so is the staff. The main thing is they are there for the kids.
What a wonderful school through and through! From my children's teachers to the administration and our fantastic parent volunteers, I can't say enough about the very positive experience our family has had as members of the Hull community.
My children have been going to Hull Elementary for two years now and they love it. I have been so thankful for the wonderful teachers who help to keep me informed of my childs growth and development. I could not have asked for better.
The staff at Hull really care for each child that comes through the doors. Not to mention they are willing to answer any question that comes their way from parents. They truly want each child to succeed. We have been here for 3 yrs and each year we were blessed with amazing teachers and opportunities. We will greatly miss Hull next year.
The staff are excellent and the district is one of the best in the state, schools are judged by the foundation that a district has to offer in regards to support and priorities. Chandler does an excellent job supporting Hull Elementary and it has been awarded Excelling Schools multiple years!
We have been in the community for 2 years now and I am so grateful for where we live! I didn't know anything about the school but ever since my boys have been there, it has been soo phenomenal!! I have one in 4th grade and 1st grade. I love their teachers and the progress that they have made. I can see the changes in them and how proud they are when they are talking about what they did that day or what they learned! They both have tons of friends! Before this school, they were part of the majority and down here, they are the minority but the transition has been so smooth that they have fitted in perfectly like they have always been here! That's one of the reasons I love it, the community is so professional, courteous and loving that I don't want to go anywhere else. My boys are both are learning so much! I feel that the school cares and respects them for being who they are! They only want the best for the kids and want everyone to succeed! The outpouring of support from parents is so great! We love it soo much!
