MPAC's middle school has had many transitions this school year. Two of the teachers have had maternity leaves, however the quality of learning has not skipped a beat. the middle school teachers are dedicated and make certain that my child has mastered a subject before moving on to anothr. This is the principal's first year and he is doing a fine job of creating a community of learning.
Small class size has been such a perfect fit for my Middle School child. He was going unnoticed in the public school, but gets personalized attention at MPAC. His teachers work with me and with him. Moving him was the best education decision we made for him.
I love this school!! My kids first attended MPAC when it was AFP but we had to change schools because we moved to Maricopa. I missed this school so much that I couldn't wait to move back to the city. I love the fact that it's a small school setting and the teachers and staff care about the well being of your children. This school really cares about your child's education. I highly recommend this school!!
The faculty and staff are amazing and hard working as this school. They really have the students best interest in mind and provide constant feedback on my child's performance. The Paragon performances are wonderful and my child now has a better understanding of past and present cultures with the schools hands on learning approach. Music is a regular class and I love the way the music teacher gets these kids to perform. I will continue sending my kids to this school. There is a strong sense of community at the school as there is also a lot of parent involvement at the school. I look forward to another great school year in 2013-2014!
This is the worst school ever! The curriculum is great and some of the teachers are wonderful, but the administration ruins it. My daughter was bullied to the point of not wanting to go to school. She eventually had to repeat a grade because she got so behind in her work due to not being able to pay attention because she was worried about what the bullies were going to do. There is little to no disciplinary action taken against bullies. The principal is not sympathetic at all. Public schools are way better than this sorry excuse for a school. Don't waste your time.
MPAC has been and is a wonderful school! We love the teachers, administration, curriculum, and events. It has served the needs of my three children and given them the best foundation of education I only wished I had in my expierenced. We love the sense of community it sets. WE LOVE IT!!
This is the best school I could have chosen to send my kids to. The teachers are the best in the valley and I am so impressed on how much my daughter has grown in the last 2 years. I thank the whole staff on their hard work. And may I add that I've never known a school that involves the parents in every way they can.
It makes me sad that Mosaica Prepatory Academy of Chandler declined my child due to a disability. I read the negative reviews about the school, but I was open minded. I wanted to give them a chance. I can tell you that this school is very unorganized which lines up with a lot of other reviews I read. I hope this helps other parents. Especially ones with children that have challenges or special needs (even a very simple need) be aware that the school refused my child of getting an education with them.
I will agree that this school challenged my daughter intellectually. I LOVED the curriculum. However, they do lack organization and cleanliness. That includes pickup time. There were times when the children were allowed to go traipsing around the school to sales or other classrooms without my notice or adult supervision (during and after school). The bathrooms were always horrific. There were a couple incidents of bullying, which I know is eminent anywhere (but that lacked control and interjection by staff). This to me became serious enough to pull her from the school. The staff is friendly for the most part.
My son, Caleb, loves this school and so do I. I have to admit I was hesitant when I was checking it out last year after a move, but was quickly reassured by my two sisters who are teachers that the curriculum was excellent and they would both send their children to this school, and would love to teach here. Need a better rating? My son went from being "bored" at school and getting in trouble for talking or goofing off, to "I love my school, Mom!" Good enough for me! DeLana Brown
AFP is a wonderful school and is significantly better than a few years ago. As a teacher at AFP, I was disappointed to read the recent negative reviews. They are unfair & inaccurate. I can't speak for every teacher, but I can say that my classroom & most others are well-managed & provide a nurturing learning environment, without needing to yell and scream . For a review to state that the "teachers are horrible" is inaccurate & uninformed to say the least. We can't make every family happy all of the time, but we work hard every day to try and do so. We are excellent teachers & an excellent school, with talented students. It s unfortunate that some families had negative experiences with one or two teachers. This can happen at any school, anywhere. However, it s unfair to criticize an entire faculty of teachers based on a poor experience with one teacher. AFP may not be for everyone, and it s up to you to decide if it will be a good fit. I encourage you to put in your due diligence when researching schools. I am sure you will be pleased with what you see & hear at AFP. I am proud to be a teacher at AFP!
I learn a lot at AFP and I love the middle school teachers.I hope they all come back. I even moved up a grade because the principal and my teachers listened to me and helped me so much and I learned all sorts of things in science and math. Also the books I've read I ve done in literacy have been amazing. We also did a lot of stuff in Paragon. I am really glad to be going to this school and I can't wait to go back next year!
I don't usually "rate" things - schools, stores, etc., - but after another parent showed me the below review, I feel the need to at least give another side of things & it's the side that I think the majority of us parents feel. My children have been at AFP for almost 4 years & while of course there have been hiccups and teacher turnovers (The U.S. actually has one of the highest teacher turnover rates in the world & it has less to do with CAO/admin than it does educational budget cuts), I could not be more pleased with the education & care my children have received here. While I can understand a parent being frustrated with a lack of communication, I have a hard time believing it to be true &I don't say this to make someone else look badly, but because of my &my friends &their experiences here. Maybe it's because I volunteer so much at the school that I see how much they do for every child every day that I understand how thin they stretch themselves, our CAO especially, but I know know I've received phone calls after hours from him, something I consider above and beyond. But then, I've always been an active parent, and I think communication is a 2 way street.
This school is lucky to get 1 star! Unfortunately, the reality is quite different. Lack of leadership by the CAO and school policies not being enforced in the five years my child attended. Additionally, with the school staff, I have seem a high turnover each year. Unfortunately, since the principal resigned two years ago, this school has went down hill with their new principal . Several times, when my child has had problems with another student(s), the school never brought it to my attention.. Not acceptable! NOT recommended. I am sooooo glad school year is OVER! As a grandparent, I have watched my grandchildren blossom due to the education they are receiving. Ahwatukee offers programs that enrich a child's learning. They involve the family, faculty, and staff in providing a true learning environment. This school teaches them not how to take a test but how to learn and apply what they have learned to have a better understanding of life. I have watched their patience with my grandson as he has matured. Their structure and method of teaching has allowed both of my grandchild to exceed beyond belief. If I had but one wish, it would be that Governor Perdue of North Carolina could convince this organization to open a school here so our students could receive the wonderful opportunities that my grandchildren have been bless with.
Mr. Brown, Ms. Wachtel & the rest of the staff at Ahwatukee Foothills Prep made my son's transition to kindergarten & our family's journey into the school easy, smooth & amazing. My son is excelling, thriving & popular among his class. He was very emotional & shy at the beginning of the year. I look forward to sending my son to kinder at afp in 2012, & our youngest daughter to kinder in 2013. Ahwatukee Foothills Prep is an amazing & life changing school.
My son began his Kindergarten year as an extremely shy child who I was afraid would not be able to thrive in the Kindergarten environment. His teacher Ms. Wachtel, worked with him and all the members of his class to promote the highest level of development, learning and creativity. I am so grateful we are a part of this wonderful school and am excited to be sending my other son to AFP as a Kindergartner, next year. With Mr. Brown at the helm, this school is going places and my family is so happy to be a part of it!
I think Mrs. Schubert is a fantastic teacher. Our daughter is excelling in her class. We are especially pleased with the level of expectation she sets for her class. What you are doing is working..Thank you!!!
The great thing about this school is the paragon program. The kids learn about cultures public schools don't even mention. My son has been teaching me new facts since 1st grade!
The teachers and administration are nore than outstanding . I am so glad that now the school is offering High School as well I want my child to be with AFP until College. Hats off to Mr. Brown as he has turned around the school in the few years as being principal .
