I Love Summit Academy. My daughter has attended Summit for three years now and we have been very happy.
This is my grandchildren's first year at Summit Academy for elementary and middle school and the kids love it!!! So far we have attended the Band events and we are loving Mr. Wilson!! Great School
My child was at this school for only a few weeks for kindergarten. I was shocked that they were doing everything she did in pre-k and never had any homework. Her teacher also made it clear she didn't want any parents in the classroom to help as she had some students that were rather 'violent' in the room. That is a clue to not have your child here. There was no communication and it was obvious this school was just 'getting by'. My child is excelling in another school just around the corner!
So far this school has been wonderful. My son is in the first grade and has a great teacher. The school has a great afterschool program also. I live in this neighborhood and can walk my child to school.
Every year we have had the best teachers. My daughter had gone to a charter school 1-2 grades and was falling behind. The teachers have been exceptional at this school and now in grade 6 she is excelling. This is a great school and would highly recommend. The only thing disappointing which i know is due to budget cuts are the extra curricular actives ie fall festival that hasn't happened in two years now . reaching out to parents to help fund that would be an option but activities like that really bring parents/teachers/students together!
Most of the teachers are great, the parent involvement is discouraging, and the behavior problems at the school aren't addressed to my satisfaction
Robert Frost was approved as an International Baccalaureate School in November 2009.
My children went to Frost last year and they loved it!!! They now attend a Queen Creek school and whenever theyre having a bad day there they say 'Mom, cant we just go back to Frost?' I have to say, I would love them to be able to go back! They were so much happier. I have to give special thanks to Mr. Jones! He never gave up on my son even through his tuffest struggles! Mr. Jones pushed him forward and kept him going! Thank you Mr. Jones!!! Any issues I had with anything involved with the school were takin care of right away.
Our family has really enjoyed being a part of the Frost Family. Our two older children have been attending Frost since 2005 and we refuse to move partly because we are extremely satisfied with the school. We have been blessed to have had some wonderful teachers that are involved, excited and concerned about our children. Among those teachers are Mr. Kinslow, Ms. Bean, Mr. Vasquez and Ms. Bailey. All of these teachers have shown great amounts of support for our children's academic, emotional and social needs. They have all been really great about staying in contact with us in regards to performance and getting back to us immediately when requested. The school principal Mr. Moe is also a great help. The few times that we have needed to contact him in regards to issues from bus routes to academic ones, he has been quick to resolve the matters at hand.
I think the kids club after school program is really bad... They do not watch your kids and they are very irresponsible. As far as the school and teachers itself... My daughter is very bright and at the top of her class. She has always been ahead of the other students, even in her old school. I don't think their homework and teaching plans are very good and they don't do enough after school events. My daughters other school always had after school events that involved the students and parents and it was fun, educational and safe.
The Principal, Mr. Moe has been very responsive to my need for involvement in my child's education. I have to say that teachers like Bean, Kinslow, Vasquez and some others are very good about keeping you in the loop about your child's performance. Other teachers think your child's education is their business alone to work in tandem with your child, who maybe just 10 years old. I had a few problems with that factor but was assisted by Mr. Moe and the issue was remedied. I think the music program is good but I am more concerned with core skills like Math, English,Social studies and the like. The only way to make sure you know what your child is doing is to insist the day planners be used by the teachers otherwise, you will be completely in the dark. The day planners are communication enhancers they should be used by all.
As a parent, I was steered away from being involved in not only my child's classroom, but also in her education all together. It was very much a 'My way or Highway' option atmosphere, and left little room for parental concerns or assistance. The principal refused to acknowledge any issues in parent/teacher communication, and even went as far as threatening me for insisting on being a part of my child's education. The teacher insinuated and insisted that my child had a learning disability, although testing at the top of the grade level said otherwise. The music program is spectacular, however, and is the one shining star to this otherwise dismal learning environment.
Parental involvement at this school, insofar as PTo was concerned, was so low it might as well not exist. The principal seemed detached and uncaring about the students as individuals.
Teachers are great, seem to really care about students. Not a strong PTO and very poor after school program.
Frost elementary has been a very positive experience for my child. I was especially pleased with the music teachers and their commitment to excellence. The musical growth displayed through concert performances was wonderful to see. The kids all responded well to their teachers and all looked excited to be there, on stage, performing! What an excellent experience for any youngster. Yes, all schools have a music department, but not all schools can boast about their music teachers as Frost can. Well Done!
I have found the staff at Frost to always be helpful and concerned for my child's learning progress. I have always felt the staff to be approachable. The music program is exceptional. Parent involvement is also notable.
