My son has Aspergers Syndrome and is also gifted. My son was in the Kyrene district and never got the special help he needed. Mesa identified a program that was ideal for him. In a year and a half he has gone from 50% class time to 100% class time. The teachers are committed and caring at Jordan. About 25% of the students are special needs. My son is now in a general education class fulltime and his teacher appears to be excellent. His test scores are good, but most importantly he is enjoying learning. Great job!

I moved my children from a non-traditional school to Jordan in the fall. I can't say enough how pleased I am with the efforts of the teachers, principal, and staff in helping my children catch up to where they need to be with their education. My children are so happy and so am I.

The principal is the best I've ever encountered, and the staff really goes above and beyond the call of duty in their work. It's obvious that each member of the staff truly cares about the children, and it is amazing to see the special education kids interact with the regular ed kids. This school will help children develop a well-rounded education and personality.

I choose to send my kids to Jordan for the simple reason. It's a great school. I have had 4 other family members attend Jordan. If they close the school, It tells me that the board memebers have NOT but the kids and education above and beyond anything else as the PROMISED at the meeting last month.

Amazing school! so focused on the childrens education!

My son is going to Jordan Elementary School. I still can't believe why they would ever close such a great school. I've been to many activities at the school and have met many of the teachers, students, parents and of course the principal-all excellent. I know my son will not get the support and education needed at any other school. I believe that the programs for all students are exceptional and I believe that are children will suffer. It is really sad to believe that are family, friends and children are being ignored. My heart goes out to all of you.

I have 3 grown children that have gone to MPS systems when my now young son goes to Jordan, I am very impressed by the interest the teachers have for all the children, he is now in 4th Grade, it would be a shame if they decided to close this school and increase class room sizes at other schools so our children don't recieve the quality education that they have at Jordan.

I think the principal is wonderful, he is very positive and the teachers are as well. I have 2 children at Jordan and they both have such positive teachers. My kids are happy and learning, they are even 'playing' school at home, they enjoy it so much!

My daughter attended Jordan Elem for 3 years and really enjoyed it there. Teachers are older and very traditional, very patient. We have since moved.

We moved here from CO where the schools were just 'ok'. Our two boys just finished their first year at Jordan (grades 4th & P-K) and were are very happy with the staff, teachers and the principal. Our oldest is an advanced learner and had missed the testing for ELP. His teacher was wonderful making sure he had not just 'extra' busy work when he finished early, but more advanced work to keep him interested. This was the first year he really loved school. The P-K class was wonderful for our very energetic 5 y/o. When he started school, he had a lot of trouble with attention & follow thru. By the end of school, he received all 'P's' (proficient) in all areas on his report card and is currently reading 1st grade books! Staff & principal very supportive & encouraging!

My children went to Kindergarten and 1st grade at Jordan. I would recommnend all day K, vs 1/2 day. It is well worth the extra $$. Parental involvement is great with the all day K. Very happy with academic programs and extra curricular.

All of my five children have gone to this school. I am happy to say that the teachers are good teachers. But the principal is a big big disappointment. Lack of communication when there is a problem regarding the student's behavior.

My four year old is just finishing up her year in the Pre-K class available on the Jordan Elementary School campus. The teachers were fantastic (especially Mrs.Elliot) and my husband and I are so glad that we enrolled her in the program.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
