I always knew Thompson Ranch was exceptional. My kindergartener has learned so much in such a short time that it blows me away. The faculty is always so friendly and they always have activities to extend learning at home! Thank you Jaguars!
I have been teaching for 17 years now and have spent the last four years at Thompson Ranch. I have never been happier as an educator in a school where I honestly feel that every single employee there from the maintenance staff all the way up to the principal, truly cares about the welfare AND the education of every single child. I fully intend to stay at TRES until I retire. The staff is the best and the students seem to work harder and become more involved every year.
This school has high expectations for student learning. Individual student data is tracked for each student in every classroom by the homeroom teacher as well as the grade level team. Strengths and weaknesses are identified so students can be assisted as their individual data indicates. The principal (Mrs. Sperling) and assistant principal (Mr. Nevers) are top notch and work hard to meet the needs of students, staff, parents, and community. They have created a work environment that says: "Your ideas matter!"
My daughter attended Thompson Ranch last school year. The teachers and admin were well qualified and always created a positive learning environment for my daughter. My daughter will not be attending this school next school year; however if it were my decision alone she would remain. School staff has continuously worked diligently to improve academic success and it shows. Keep up the hard work! Congratulations on the A+ Award of Excellence!
We are so proud be part of the Thompson Ranch family. There are challenging programs offered to students that encourge academic growth. All teachers are focused the growth and well being of each individual student. With the great leadership that this school has I know my student will succeed.
Our motto "Thompson Ranch is the best we outshine the rest!" is exemplified in all aspects of our school culture. Academically students are challenged to do their personal best. Enrichment activities are provided in the classroom as well as after school in clubs that are both academic and social in nature. Tutoring is also available for all students that are struggling. We are fortunate to have many community volunteers to support our students with their monetary gifts as well as their time. Thompson Ranch has become the first A+ School of Excellence in the Dysart School District because of the dedication of all faculty and staff to serve our students and parents.
The Thompson Ranch Community has worked hard to bring it's school to an A+ School of Excellence quality. Students are engaged because of the 21st Century technology skills and Kagan strategies being used in all classrooms. The school has Smart technology in every grade level and on-line support from mulitple resources. STEM activities are being used throughout the school supported by FOSS. This is a school that stepped up to the challenges and PAWed their way to the top. Paw Power!!!
The staff at Thompson Ranch understand the needs of the students in this community. They adjust their programs to meet the specific needs of the students and stand by the philosophy that all students can and will learn. There are so many programs in place for our students. We get so much community support. Everyone gets involved and it's a great campus to be on.
This year Thompson Ranch became an A+ School of Excellence. The students and the teachers work hard everyday. The school has initiated many changes over the last three years. After school tutoring and clubs run four days a week. Students are recognized for their academic success and there is plenty of school spirit! Thompson Jaguars are the Best! They Outshine all the Rest!
This school, like all the schools in the district, have online report card for parents to view online 24/7.
My 14 year old son has been a student at thompson ranch just this year. I have experienced a extreme let down involving the staff up to and including the principal and assist. pricipal. The student body is out of control, and several of the teachers that we have delt with are not only unprofessional, but also unaccountable for their inappropriate behavior. How do they expect to teach our children morals and ethics when they themselves possess none of these characteristics.
The school does a poor job of informing parents of students grades as the year progress which tends to degrade a parent's ability to properly assist in the education process. Other schools allow parents to go online to view grades and/or progress. My children complain that some of the students do not speak English in their class. 6th grade course work appears to be 1 - 2 grades behind because the kids cannot keep up. I will be pulling my kids at the end of the year.
This is a school that has a wonderful staff that is very responsive to parents needs. My child's teacher goes out of her way to meet the needs of all of the students in the classroom. I am very happy with Thompson Ranch
That is sad! This school, I just cant find the words. The principal has a paddle on his window. I know he doesnt use it, weel, hopefully not. I don't like seeing it though. I had those used on me before. I think it is arrogant keeping those up there. That however is the mentality that doesnt want to help your child in an activity.
I have three kids in this school covering the gamut from special needs to gifted. I also have a several family members in education in other states. I've been extremely pleased with the education my children have received at TR.
My grandson moved from California last November. He attended a Montessori school in kindergarten and first grade. He was reading 'chapter' books and writing a review each day, 'borrowing' and multiplication, and had to research and present two major projects. Since attending Thompson Ranch, he has done very little challenging or difficult work. Homework is done with little thought (he says 'I already know that'). My concern is the low AIMS scores for Thompson Ranch. Based on the materials he brings homes, they seem to be working below grade level.
From the resource teachers to the speech/language pathologist and the OT/PT, all are heads and shoulders above others we've dealt with in the same district.
My eldest has been at TR since it first opened. While that initial year was a bit difficult because they were still working the kinks out, things have improved dramatically. The principal is phenomenal. Mr. Ruiz is amazing and very responsive to parent concerns. All of my dealings with him and other administrators have been phenomenally positive. The teachers are also extremely good. The educators that my kids have been lucky enough to have are all very responsive to their needs and professional. Both of my daughters are quick and the school doesn't hesitate to test for their talented and gifted programs. They just barely miss the cut off, but their teachers still customize their curriculum to meet the girls' needs. It's amazing and wonderful!
Although the professional staff has strong leadership, they have their work cut out for them. The test scores have been below average but part could be because they have had their boundaries changed every year since the school has been open! The other major issue is that the parent support is less than acceptable. How do you expect your children to succeed when you can't even get the parents to come to a meeting or be involved in their child's classroom? We as a community need to get involved and support the people that are molding the minds of our children. Please get involved and help support the teachers, counselors, administrative staff, etc who work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of our children.
There needs to be a significant review of their Special Education Program!!! In addition, Special Education Students are not encouraged to participate or engage in extracurricular activities. In the 5 years my child has attended a Dysart School, not once has my child brought home information on such activities. When asked for the information, it is simply placed on the back burner and there is no follow up on the school's part.
