Great school, excellent and engaged teachers. Principal is liked by the kids and does an excellent job setting high goals and makes sure teachers and kids reach these higher standards. My son is in 1st grade and this is the second year here. I am glad we chose this school. Some of the Charter school kids joined my son's classroom lately and they had trouble reading and writing and were way behind until our wonderful and hard working teachers helped them catch up.

This is by far one of the best schools our child has been to. She has been in both public and private schools in the far west valley and they fail in every imaginable aspect when compaired to McDowell Mt. The teachers here have the greatest care and compasion for the childern, the principal is very dedicated to the students and the school, and the parents that are actively involved learn to know the students personally. You get the feeling from the teachers and principal that they are doing this because of their love and commitment to educating childern. Well done McDowell Mt. Elementary!

I have a set of triplets in 1st and one in kindergarten at McDowell Elementary. This is an outstanding school. The teachers recognize and support teaching children at different levels within the same class. Discipline is reinforced and children are properly held accountable for making the right choice. The only thing lacking is an after-school program that would provide an opportunity for kids to explore things like theater, science, foreign language, and recreation. The PTO is spectacular!!

My children have attended McDowell Mountain Elementary school from Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The 3 years we have experienced have been amazing. The teachers are caring and dedicated and have provided my children with a wonderful foundation. The school truly cares about the students and the principal Joanne Meehan knows all of the students by name. The school provides a music class, art class , chess club , computer lab and spanish class. This is also a school with caring and involved parents. The PTO is just one way to become involved. The school encourages parent helpers in the classroom so you can be a partner in your child's education.

My Kindergartner couldn't be in a better school. McDowell Mountain is a fantastic place for kids to learn and grow. The emphasis I've seen on learning makes it so much fun for my daughter! I've volunteered in the classroom and can say, from first-hand experience that this school gets an A+ from me!

McDowell Mountain Elementary is not only a great school for my children but also for me as a parent. McDowell Mountain offers a variety of parent courses to help parents learn teaching tools and skills to help their children with work study habits, reading/vocabulary, etc. My child has also benefited from a reading program and one-on-one reading and math assistance through their mentor program.

I have a set of triplets at McDowell Mountain. The staff has very understanding of my particular needs. The kids are separated, and each child was ideally suited for his/her kindergarten teacher - it was amazing! Having the opportunity to evaluate several classes, I can say that each class offered the same basic curriculm, with each teacher's special touch. I am quite pleased with the progress my children have made over the past year, and I look forward to the next 2 years.

McDowell Mountain is a great school. My daughter is getting a great education and enjoys going to school daily. The teachers really care about their students and the principle is active in all of the childrens daily activities. I really like the fact that they teach respect and get rewarded for good behavior. I am really happy I switched my daughter to this school and out of the Scottsdale School District.
