communication between parent and teacher, is low, there is low Parent showing up for P/T confrences. Alot of parents are in the mode ' my child would never,,,'. which is unfortunate. The school is also starting ot see more and more neglected children, unbathed, dressed poorly. There is no support for these children. Most of the staff are postiitve and determined, although every school has is fair share of crappy teachers. Alot of parents are forgetting that these children are our future, .
Unfortunately there is a lack of communication from teacher to parent, especially in behavior issues. Although I have seen this stem from the ' my child wouldn't do that' reaction from the parents. So teachers feel talking to parents dont help. I think Video cameras belong in the classroom, just for this purpose. The education viewpoint, is Fredonia has some great teachers, although there are always bad apples in the basket, but for the most part, I see alot of dedication.
The level of communication between parents and the school has often resulted in parents not knowing that their young children have been dismissed from school. Early dismissal, in-school programs, extracurricular notifications, and even discipline problems are not communicated to parents regularly - if at all. Sports carries a high priority, but music, art, and theatre do not. There is a wide range of teaching ability at this school - from top notch to very, very poor. But because there aren't a large number of students, there is usually no other choice.
Teachers only teach to pass the AIMS test, not to educate the children properly. This school district sadly falls far below the expetations of a proper education. Discipline seems to also be a problem that hasn't been taken care of properly.
