I 'am very disappointed in the way the school handled my daughters bullying problem. She now is suicidal, sees a physc., is on medication and has enrolled in a different school, while the responsible students have not been properly dealt with, as it continues through facebook. As a parent and a veteran of 13yrs. I would not recommend this schoo for any student that has a desire to learn.

, I must say the changes that have occurred over the past school year have been necessary, and could not have happened at a better time. One interesting fact to prove this statement, is that the graduating class of 2013 did not leave a student behind. All students PASSED!! That is something that has not been done in over 13 years!! The programs that have been brought in are wonderful! Ms. Tina Leach is the reading specialist there, and she has made reading for the kids so much more interesting for them on a different level. She makes sure each and every child has the right material! Any parent should be thankful for someone like herself to be helping their child. Parents are notorious for running this school along with board members not understanding there position , and finally we have a superintendent and principle that no longer let that happen. This school is turning around for the better!

My child has enjoyed being a student at Gila Bend High School and is looking forward to taking AP English. The athletic teams have been really successful the past several years. For the most part I like my child's teachers and they seem to care.

Gila Bend High School does not provide the education that the students need to be prepared for college, and they also change trachers every year, so every year students are barely getting to know the teacher and try to get used to the his/her ways of teaching. Also instead of moving up on the material they're providing the students they keep teaching the same stuff over and over. Overall the school's staff is wack!

As a teacher I must agree that the Principle is very well educated in both the teaching and managing side of things. He is the best boss I have ever herd who listens to and trusts his staff, while keeping the overall wellbeing of his students as a primary concern.

I have to completely disagree with the previous review. Our High School Principle is the best Gila Bend High has had in a very long time. He has done more for the students in the few years he has been here than the 3 previous principles. Being a parent of two high school students, I must declare Mr. Gowdy has been wonderful. The man thoroughly cares about the job he does. Keep up the outstanding work Mr. Gowdy.

Gila Bend High School is currently being run by an extremely inconsistent principal, whose unprofessional behaviors reflect on the desire of both the staff and students to attend school.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. GreatSchools' profiles currently show AIMS mathematics, reading and writing results. 2013 AIMS grade 10 results represent on-track 10th graders for the 2013 test year. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.

Schools are identified as Excelling, Highly Performing, Performing Plus, Performing, Underperforming, Failing to Meet Academic Standards or Pending.
