Principal is big on rules but doesn't put systems in place to support them. Traffic is a disaster, dangerous and unsupervised. Most of the teachers are great.

Our children attended this school for two years. The school is very strong educationally but if you are a new student in the upper grades the school is very cool to new studentsWe found the education great but the school was 'clickish' unless you attended from an early age. In addition, we would have rather lived in another school district area that had more conservative children and parents.

My daughter has been going to this school for 5 years. I couldn't ask for better teachers. The keep school interesting for the kids and make them want to learn more. Keep up the great work.

I feel this school has a really strong leadership which has led to strong teachers and a safe atmosphere for my children to learn in. I moved in from another state and our school was half the size. I actually feel my children have a more nurturing and safe school environment here in this big school than they did in a small school. The principal is extremely involved in every aspect of school life.

I sent three kids to this School, 2 average girls, they started in 5th & 6th grade. They said they thought it was the worse school that they ever went to and they had been to, two other school Districts. Teacher didn't care or take time for any of the students. I also sent my son there and he is Dyslexic and thet lied and told me he wasn't, so that they would not have to pay for his special needs. In 5th grade my son could not read. I took him out of that school and in two years my son's reading level went up 6 grade levels. I would only recomend this school to average or above average students that can self learn.

My child going to Val Vista Lakes school has convinced me that he must stay in the Gilbert School District his entire school years. The teachers, princlpal, tutors, psychologist, etc ALL have been fully envolved and showed genuine interest in his education. Their interest encourages me to become more involved. This way we are al on the same page for his greater good in his education. Thank you Val Vista Lakes Staff.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. GreatSchools' profiles currently show AIMS mathematics, reading and writing results. 2013 AIMS grade 10 results represent on-track 10th graders for the 2013 test year. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
