We are excited about the construction of our new campus and look forward to it's opening this August for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year! Enrollment opportunities have increased due to this expansion. Please call 480-632-0722 to inquire about enrolling your child today.
I am a veteran parent and on the parent board. The academic program is the best there is. I have had dealings with the executive director and find him to be egotistical and not caring about parenyts and their concerns. He can be very condescending if you approach him with issues.
This school is very hit and miss. If you student is a great student, by all means send them. They seem to teach ahead and don't look back much. If your student is popular even better. However if you have a student that is a c student, this school will pass right by them and missing concepts that will affect your child later. Nothing is done about bullying as my son was bullied, I had multiple talks with the principle and things did not get better. This is an accurate rating as my kids went to school her from kindergarten to 5th grade. If you are lucky enough to get a great teacher which there are some in here for sure you will be great. One bad teacher will make your life and kids life really tough. We were not able to switch teachers instead the school would rather you left since they have a wait list. My students bad grades were listed on a wall for everyone to see.Between the bullying and posting bad grades on the wall for all to see my kids confidence was faltering at an all time low. The best thing I did was pull my kids out. I now have a happy healthy kid who still gets C's but gets more help to understand what he missed.
As a parent at BFCS of many years at Gilbert Campus their is a procedure to follow regarding these issues concerning your child. The first step should have been to first talk to the teacher and then the principal after that you can contact the administration. I know for a fact all issues have always been dealt with fairness and resolved happily. It is unkind to bash a specific person simply because of differences of opinions. We are all adults and should deal with things as such. Door #2 is an amazing person, who is highly qualified and loves the children. I feel sad when teachers are treated unfairly because of all they do and deal with on a daily basis. Please remember we all have bad days, bad moments and tough times. We are here to learn to be kind and be good examples for the children of the future.
Amazing curriculum, great staff and teachers. I have been a parent here at BFCS for over seven years, and will continue to be one untill all my children have concluded sixth grade. Here at Benjamin Franklin Charter School teachers are trained to teach a well rounded curriculum. The renowned Spalding and Saxon math method of teaching are implemented , as well as deep study of the American constitution. The teachers follow an oustanding code of conduct, and are loving ,friendly to the children and parents. The principal is great with children , and deals with them with fairness. When problems arise he is always willing and ready to meet the child and the parents to help solve problems. I honestly have not to deal with the principal very often, because I was able to resolve most all issues by first consulting with my child's teacher. All the office staff is cordial and helpful to those that belong and are just visiting the campus. I am well pleased with the school, but most importantly with the type of education provided here. Ounce again the curriculum, the discipline, and the structured enviroment is outstanding. Visit our school and see for yourself.
I have been with this school for many years. I love the academics and staff. I know that my children were loved, cared for and taught well. My older children have excelled as teenagers because of this program. This past month has been two of our families favorite highlights. Fall festival and the Veteran's Day program. What a great way to help create a family friendly environment. Thank you to the staff and all of the parent volunteers.
I could not be happier with this school. I took my son out of a nearby school and enrolled him in Benjamin Franklin. He has only attended 5th and 6th grade here, the only regret I have is that I did not look into this school sooner. The academics are well above other area schools, the staff, teachers, and principal are dedicated to providing the best care and academics to the students. The functions; Fall Festival, Christmas Concert, Field Day, etc. are wonderful. Thank you to BFCS for all you have done!
The school as a whole is better than average for sure; higher academics, great curriculum, most teachers are highly qualified and do a great job. However, in recent years (I have had kids there for 11 years now) there has been a trend toward incomplete handling of discipline issues, particularly related to bullying. I think it is a matter of policy as well as implementation and leadership by the principal. I have recently addressed this with the Board so hopefully changes will be forthcoming.
I am a parent volunteer at the Gilbert campus so I am at the school at least each week helping in my children's classroom. The structure and the accelerated curriculum is what brought me to this school. The teachers communicate with me frequently. The office staff is always friendly and helpful. I see the principal in the classrooms often. He is easy to work with. I have seen great changes in my children since they have been here. It is a great campus and I would recomment any parent looking for a great education for their children to check it out.
I have been a parent at this school for 4 years and find it to be excellent. From the principal to the office staff to the teachers all are friendly and making sure my needs and the needs of my child are met. I could not be happier.
This school is excellent! Great homework assignments, challenging, and good teachers, way above average. School does not infringe upon parental rights and requires 100% participation or parents in most activities. I have a daughter there now for the 3rd year, my son went for two. Try Hamilton Prep Academy in Chandler for 7 - 12 grades.
This is a great school academically. It's a very accelerated level of education. Although there is a high turnover with teachers, at the Gilbert Campus, they are all trained very well on how to implement the program by the great mentoring system in place between all 4 campus'. Overall, the school is great. My kids have been attending for 9 years and my oldest is now graduating Jr. High from the Power Campus. Very ready to attend public High School. The only issue I have, with the Gilbert campus, is the principal. He does not know how to support his teachers, support staff or parents of the students. If you have never had any 'dealings' with him, you probably would think that he is an excellent principal. But, if you have a child that needs extra attention, he is not the one you want to deal with them.
We have been impressed with the school overall. We brought our student to the school after attending 3 years of public school and never learning to read. Half way thru the first year and he is almost reading at his grade level. I have found the school to be very structured and strict however have observed some of there policies enforced depending on religion and politcal clout. I would recommend this school to all however be prepared for a very poorly engineered parking lot and a great deal of inconsiderate parents that do not know how to lead by example. And a staff that seems to just allow it. The principal we do have our reservations for but overall good school.
I have seen a huge change in my grandson since starting school at Benjamin Franklin. He was enrolled at another school & was not happy at all. Now I see a self-confident, happy, proud little boy thanks to the wonderful teacher & staff at Benjamin Franklin Charter School. I couldn't be happier!
My son is in kindergarten looks forward to going to school everyday. He is reading and spelling well. He likes to be challenged and the curriculum does that well so he is not bored in class. He loves Music class, PE and Art too. The Christmas concert in December was fantastic. I love the small size of this school and the teachers and staff are very friendly and helpful. I also like the parental involvement that is encouraged in the classroom and through committees. I am very thankful my son was able to get in last year.
My children attended Ashlnd Rancj previous to BFCS. While Ashland ranch is one of the finest public schools in the state, it is still a public school. I was forced to switch schools for my children and was dissapointed. We had however looked at BFCS previously and had liked their Back-To-Basics approach. I am very pleased that the Lord intervened on my childrens behalf and decided that Ashland Ranch was not the place for them. BFCS is by far one of the best schools in the Valley. My children have thrived since starting to attend. Their cirriculun is fantastic, and the staff is truley caring and thoughtful. they push the children to live up to a higher standard. I am impressed by the advanced cirriculum that is offered here. My only regret is not enrolling them sooner.
Benjamin Franklin is Awesome!! The staff truly cares about the children there. My Daughter is in Kindergarten and she is reading chapter books and loves to learn! I would recommend this school to anyone that wants there children to succeed! I wish I would have known about this school earlier! I think the parents that complain about computers and other non academic things should get there priorities in line and get there kids an education! My kids will go to Benjamin Franklin forever!!
We love our school! The teachers are attentive, organized, and truly care about their students. The office staff are knowledgeable and friendly; the principal is caring and involved. The students are challenged to excel in all areas and most rise to the occasion. Ben Franklin has a back-to-basics curriculum with a school-wide emphasis on values and patriotism as well. Twice a week with an incredibly gifted music teacher leads a true music class. The students' December concert could rival any high school's. The children are happy and for the most part seem to get along with each other. What more could one want? OK, so a few more after school programs might be nice, or maybe computers in the classrooms, but my son can play on a soccer team outside of school or learn on our computer at home. Believe me, this school is awesome.
We love the Saxon math and spaulding programs, the teachers and staff are great. My child has been here for 4 years and is excelling. The education they are getting here versus public school is higher most of the time, at least on math & reading. This school doesn't have computers or computer classes and is unwilling to add it to their curriculum. The teachers don't even have computers in their classrooms unless they bring them.
When this school was first conceived of, those of us parents who rolled up our sleeves and made it happen wanted the best possible education in the best most supportive environment possible for our children. I am so proud when I see our first Kindergarten class, now in their Junior year, thriving and preparing to become the effective, well mannered, self disciplined adults any parent would want their child to become. What started by clearing a barnyard at the Museum on Horne, has a become a shining success and example of what can be achieved when you work hard and never give up. Academically and socially our children are way ahead of the game! Thank you and Way To Go Gilbert BFC!
The curriculum is superior to the local public schools. Most of the students are working 1-3 grades ahead. The old addage rings true, 'expect much, you'll get much, expect little, you'll get little.' The expectations are higher and most kids respond to the challenge.
