Special education program details Gilbert Arts Academy makes available related services to all exceptional students. It is the philosophy of The Leona Group and Gilbert Arts Academy that all children can learn, regardless of disability. Our teachers are trained to teach to diverse learning styles and ability levels. Gilbert Arts Academy believes in close collaboration between staff, general education teachers, special education teachers, and parents. This produces the best possible learning outcomes for our exceptional students.

English Language Learner program details Arizona law requires students with a home language other than English be assessed for proficiency in oral language, reading comprehension, and written communication. Based on the results of the assessment, students may be placed in the English Language Learner program designed to aid them in acquiring English proficiency.

Typical day and activities The Kindergarten Readiness Program at GAA, will work on self-help skills, small and large motor skills, letter and number recognition, letter sounds and blending, communication, and several other cognitive and social skills. Teachers will cover these areas using weekly themes and center-based instruction.

Parent involvement details At Gilbert Arts Academy we recognize the benefits actively involved parents bring to our students and we value their input. Parent participation is welcomed in a variety of ways from helping with projects at home, to participating in administrative meetings, to supporting school improvement projects
Approach to addressing and preventing bullying The GAA staff believes it is the right of every student to be educated in a positive, safe, caring and respectful learning environment. Students are prohibited from bullying on school grounds, school events and activities, and through the use of electronic technology. Students are strongly encouraged to report incidents of bullying immediately to the school leader.
