GHS is an amazing school with a positive culture. Students work together and inspire under classmates as they begin their 4 years. The community spirit is fostered by teachers, staff and administrators. When a school this size has a principal who knows the students (ones who are not necessarily AP, Varsity or behavioral problems), you know you have a great environment. The clubs are varied, but I would highlight Tiger Town as an inspiration for this setting.
GHS is a great school period. Even though I was there for only two years this school made into a better student and person. Their Performing Arts program is amazing! The students are well behaved and care about their education. Then there is the teachers, they were amazing, all of them were extremely skilled in the job and had a deep passion to teach students, not just in education, but in teaching them to be great people.
GHS is an excellent school in many ways. They have high academic expectations, but are willing to help students meet them. Special education teachers and counselors are caring and dedicated. There are programs to prevent exclusion and bullying. The theater program and drama club are excellent. The honors and AP classes are world-class. I can't say enough good thing about GHS!
Overall, Gilbert High School is a amazing school. The academics here are excellent, and the teachers care about your success. Starting this year we got a new principal, and he has turned out to be great. The person below is horribly mistaken that the school is full of snobs. The students here are open, which means there are very few cliques, and it is easy to make friends. I was somewhat scared of starting high school, but going to Gilbert High has made everything go well.
Extremely disappointing to find out the school is run by people who care less about their students & more about their ratings. I was moving into the area so I wanted to make sure where I should move to get her into the best school. Come to find out the only reason it has high scores is because they won't except anyone that is right on the border who doesn't have perfect grades. I did everything they asked and then they waited till there was a week left before school started to inform me that the Principal will not allow her in his school. She has a medical condition and due to this her grades went down some last year, so she is not good enough for the school, but our neighbors are. I guess it's better this way, because my daughter deserves better then a bunch of snobs!!!
I love Gilbert High School. The teachers are outstanding and my daughter has lots of good friends and doesn't want to miss a day! They are doing something right!!!!
I graduated in 2003, having had 3 fantastic years at this school. I came in as a sophmore and got to meet other students early through the marching band (marched in Bush Jr's inauguration and placed 21st nationally in ABODA 2002). My grades went up tremendously, especially in math and history. The teachers are more than willing to tutor your before and after school, and also during your free period. There are plenty of activities students can be active in, from chess to sports to drama, ecology, even forign language clubs. The school is very large, especially from a reboundry in 2002 that added 500+ students, but it is very diverse and all the staff truly care about the student's education and well being.
Gilbert is a great school. They have an amazing ROTC program that has a diverse array of activities for a diverse collection of students. The teachers at Gilbrert seem to care for the most part. A select few go the extra mile because they really care about your career after high school. Complaints: there isn't a lot of emphasis on learning outside of school (ie reading more, learning on your own, etc.).
Good school, but the loss of 40 teachers will definitely be felt. Sports programs have really gone downhill in the past year or so. The administration seems to be trying to get the cheapest (ie youngest and least experienced) coaches possible, and in some ways the school still operates as though it is 1985. There are some really great programs and great teachers, but the counselors are overworked and the budget cuts can really be felt already.
Gilbert Highscool is a wounderful school to attend if you are in the 9-12 grade range.I love the agriculture and drama program at ghs, and the teachers are very good at there job.The food is awesome and they are a very caring school!i LOVE GILBERT HIGH SCHOOL!
The school is pretty chill. They have a great AFJROTC program that I love. It has been a great place to learn, grow, and gain good friends!
I absouletly love the AFJROTC unit there. It is so much fun! And the classes are awesome!
This is a great school with great acedemics, a fabulous marching band that made the top 10 at the Bands of America competition, and great athletes.
i think gilbert high school ia an awsome school they have great programs for the students and they keep them learning. i use to go to ghs before i moved and it was a great experience when i was there i went there for my freshman and sophmor year and both years i have tons of stuff that i will always remember. ghs is a a good high school for teenagers to go to.
GHS is a good school. Parents need to realize that it is high school and it is time to cut the strings to their kids. If you develop good communication with your child from a young age, you don't need to worry about the school being 'parent friendly'. I have had questions from time to time and I always get a quick response. They also use snap grades which are terrific!
Top notch school. Great teachers and strong administration. Can't say enough good things about this campus. Given their diversity it is amazing they remain on top of the heap. Oh yeah and if you check, you will find they are rated top 10 in the state in athletics on top of it all!
My son is a senior at GHS. After years of struggling in a school district in Montana GHS and the teachers there have been a godsend. He went from barely passing to having a 3.8 average. I am in contact weekly with each teacher. They answer my e-mails promptly and are the best. My son has special needs but because the teachers are so good and responsive to his needs. I bought my home specifically to be in GHS district and can honestly say it was worth everything I did to get him here.
We are familiar with several school districts in our area, and GHS was the school of our choice. I drive 16 miles each day to take my son to this school. My son has 504 program in place (special needs), however, we rarely have to refer to this because the teachers are caring and generally fair. I find that is is easy to get involved with the school if a parent thinks about how they want to develop a relationship with the staff. I have requested staff changes, when appropriate, and they have been granted. The counselors have been very helpful and accommodating. As a result, my son is excelling in school and making straight A's. Teaching and learning is a team effort. My son is also active in theatre, the snow-riders club, and speech and debate. He is very happy at at GHS although his freshman year was a struggle.
I know exactly what you mean about GHS. The Principal does not want any kids at his school that aren't of the 'main stream' types. You will never get any help from the staff because they don't communicate with parents. You only get excuses from the staff. I have dealt with this for several years. I have my 3rd child going to GH this yr. I am praying they won't be harassed because of the same last name syndrome.
Gilbert High School is a good school if your child is not special needs. Special needs children have a tendency to get left behind in this school district. The teachers fail to listen and fail to develop or attempt to develop a relationship with the students. This portion of the education system at Gilbert High needs to be re-visited. Changes need to be made in order to assist these young people in succeeding.
