Bringing my kids to Canyon Pointe Academy was the best decision I've ever made. Its a bit of a drive for me, as there is an elementary school literally 1 block from my house. The local school in our neighborhood was just o.k. and I felt like the kids were just a number. They never did anything fun for the kids, to make them WANT to come to school. They never recognized them for their accomplishments and there were no afterschool clubs whatsoever for Science and Language and Art. At Canyon, every kid is recognized for their accomplishments, and I am super impressed that the Principal knows every kid by name! This school doesn't just talk the talk.... they walk the walk. They are sincere and caring and truly love the kids there, and I am so thankful that my children are getting a wonderful education while at the same time, having fun every day, which makes school in general....more FUN!!

Canyon Pointe Academy is exactly what we were looking for! The neighborhood public school had nothing to give our daughter who is above average. At Canyon students can learn at their own level! There are also several after school sports activities and clubs to join! This small family community atmosphere offers students a feeling of security as young students look up to the older ones and older ones look out for younger ones! The administration loves what they do and the students thrive under their direction! We are so glad we found Canyn when we did!

My daughter has attended Canyon Pointe Academy for almost four years now. Over those four years, Canyon has added several programs to support student learning and build a family atmosphere so everyone feels accepted. Their RTI program is amazing; some of my daughter's peers have enjoyed learning in the smaller RTI groups and are doing better in class thanks to the support. My daughter has been challenged by allowing her to move ahead as she exhibits mastery level of skills. They have after school sports, clubs, tutoring, and 4-A days that build team spirit and highlight academics, athletics, arts, and activities. The principal has shown amazing leadership through character building programs and mentoring opportunities across grade levels. The teachers work collaboratively to nurture student learning in all areas. The new math curriculum is amazing, and next year we are looking forward to a new reading curriculum to meet the newest standards of learning. And, since some parents have mentioned lunch - they serve salads, soups and many varieties of healthy and kids friendly choices.

As a long time parent with my final child getting ready to promote I am sad to say goodbye. Canyon Pointe has become an extended part of our family. Each of my older children look forward to visiting on family event nights so they can get caught up with teachers they have left behind. People often ask me why I choose Canyon for my children. It was the strong vision and challenging academic program that sold me, but it was the excellent teachersand staff that kept us here. This school understands that they are helping parents to form the future leaders of tomorrow. They teach character, responsibility and the importance of leaving your mark in this word. That doesn't come out of a book. Those things have to be modeled everyday by their staff and they do and excellent job of it. So if you a looking for a school that not only will provided your child with an excellent education but will partner with you to help your child be the best person they can be, you need to not look any further. I will miss the morning smiles that set my day off on a great tone and the friendly wishes for a great evening that the staff offer each day.

I cannot belive what some of these parents are posting! Are you kidding me? Your focus on this school is LUNCH?!? Yes, they may not offer the healthiest of foods, but I do know that they offer fruit, yogurt, string cheese, and several other things. If you don't like it then pack your child a lunch. Problem solved. What I would HOPE a good parent would be focusing on is their childs education. They won't get a better one than at Canyon, period! Their expectations are well above any public school. The things my son is learning as a first grader is absolutely unbelieveable. His 1st grade friends who attend public school are far behind in their level of learning. If you're looking for a great education Canyon is definitely the place.

My older child is in her last year at Canyon and I will sad when it comes to an end. Canyon has been like a second home to us. The RTI program has been a life saver for us, homework used to be a fight every night and that extra review and practice has been a huge help. My husband and I love that we dont have to struggle through homework every night anymore. There is a new math program in place and I am ot sure if it is the new progrma or RTI that is making the difference, my guess would be it's the combination, but either way it's made our lives easier. The most astonishing thing I read in one of the negative reviews is that the teachers are mean to the kids, our favorite thing about Canyon is how the teachers and administration interact with the kids. every is always happy and joking around and it is truly a joy to come onto campus and see the relationships. My child has never had a negative thing to say about her teachers. (And trust me, she would tell us!) Every school has it's pros and cons but we do feel the pros greatly outweigh the cons at Canyon.

I have 3 students enrolled at Canyon and I can't brag enough about this school! There is seldom a day that goes by that my 5th grader does not say "hey! Guess what I learned today?" He is excited for school every day. My 2nd grade daughter has a wonderful teacher who has creative lessons that engage the students. It was no wonder my kindergartener could NOT WAIT to become a CPA LION. She loves her teacher and it is obvious her teacher loves to teach. The academics are challenging and the teachers are great at thinking outside of the box to keep the kids motivated. I am also impressed with the way the students are taught to help others through food drives and an angel tree during the holidays. My kids have learned so much more that just reading and writing. They learn how to take responsibility for their actions and how to treat others. I am proud to say we are a CANYON FAMILY

This is a horrible school. It has the worst lunches. It only has microwavable foods and everything there is unhealthy. All the teachers there just play on theirs phones or are on them. One teacher spends alot of time talking about football. And another just texts all day long. Some students sleep during class or are about to. They do nothing educational during specials and RTI is no help to kids either. The school does not have a library. Charter schools are suppose to have less students so the teachers can pay attention to their students but none of the teachers listen or pay attention to their students. One teacher is even happy when some students are not there. She also calls her students bad names.

The lunch menu is incredibly unhealthy, and the "R.T.I" program is useless. I was excited to see that my daughter was going to get extra help with math, but they teach all the children the exact same thing. How are any of the children in that program going to benefit from that. The lunch menu is disgusting, all they serve is Hot Pockets, and frozen burritos. I don't understand how that would qualify as a healthy, nutritious lunch.

This school is very committed to its students. Because of it's size, all the teachers get a chance to know students not only through their classrooms, but through activities like sports and clubs, just to name a few. There are many family activities where parents can mingle with the staff. I know that Canyon Pointe staff and teachers are very committed to what they are doing, and try to make learning fun and motivating! They only want their students to strive for the best, and in response to the previous comment, if you don't want to enroll your child here, then you have that choice, as there are many options. However, in my opinion, CPA is a great choice!

This school needs a lot of improvement!!! They offer a POOR lunch menu, what they consider "hot lunch" is nothing more than microwaved food and they don't offer anything to drink to go with it like milk, unless you pay extra for it. Some of the teachers my child has had are the worst teacher I've seen, so far only 2 of them have been great. I'm not looking forward to re-enrolling my child here for the 2012-2013 school year, but have no other choose cause of personal issues... Also, if you have a child with disabilities (ie ADHD) they are not all on the same page and don't communicate with the parents what they are doing with your child and what attention the child should have or need.

We have nothing but amazing things to say about Canyon. This is out second year at this school and each day we are more and more thrilled. Initially I was worried about the no PTA but now that I have volunteered over a dozen times in my student's classroom and at school activities I have no worries at all. Last Friday night we attended the family block part which was like a family reunion. We had so much fun as a family and seeing everyone, it was a great event. Obviously everyone has different experiences but we have made our experience a great one by really being a part of Canyon.

Overall I would have to say Canyon is a good school but not great. The academics are much better than the public school my daughter attended before (even though they still use programs that other schools have gotten rid of because they are shown not to work) and they do offer a lot of fun activities for the students. However a large part of the staff is arrogant. I am not sure what it is that makes them feel like they have the right to be. The school does not support parent involvement in the day to day like I was used to and liked at public school (no PTA). While they offer lunch it is not what I want my daughter eating. There are very few if any healthy options and you have to purchase each item individually which adds up over time. None of these problems are enough for me to want to make my daughter leave her school and friends but I am not sure if I would choose this school again.

We LOVE this school. Our child has really blossomed both academically and socially since starting Kindergarten last August. The administration, faculty and staff are very caring, the curriculum is outstanding, and the school provides a nurturing environment for the students to learn and also interact as a family. And while they have a rigorous curriculum, they make sure the students have a 'break' often, and plan a lot of fun activities throughout the year. We can't say enough good things about CPA & are very grateful we found this school.

I love being at this school. It is a wonderful environment where the students are excited to be there and everyone works together as a family. The earlier reviewer was correct on one thing, ask the kids and they will tell you the truth. Canyon is the best place I have ever worked!!

I have found all the teachers and office staff to be very friendly at Canyon. The students seem happy and I recently attended an event at the school and was very impressed by how Mrs. Rhone communicates with the students. It seems like she has a great rapport with them. I also appreciate the teachers holding the students responsible for themselves, I have a second grader who I feel is more responsible then several of my friend's children of the same age (or older), and I feel we have CPA to thank for that. Another huge plus is CPA offers after school sports and that is rare in an elementary school. I am looking forward to my son being in 4th grade so he can join in the fun. I can't help but wonder if the negative reviews on here are from parents of some of the troublemakers. As a parent of a child who is generally well behaved, I would not say the discipline is over the top. Whenever my son has gotten in trouble for something, I have always felt the consequences were fair. I would not want the disruptive few to interfere with my child's education so I appreciate the teachers and principal not allowing that to happen. Overall, very happy with Canyon Pointe!

GREAT FOR K-4, BUT FOR 5TH AND 6TH.. TOTALLY AWEFUL.. Adademically, its very good and the teachers are great, but for the 5th and 6 graders the administation has fostered an environment of hate. I totally agree with the other parent, that this administration is very clicky and snobbish. But, I will take it even further, they extend this not just to the parents, but to the students as well. In the 5th and 6th Grades, there are two warring factions. The principals pets (about 20 of them) and those that hate the principal. My advice to you, if you have a child in these grades is to ask, not one or two or three of the students... ask as many as you can. Find out the true story of the school and then look at your child. Decide for yourselves if your student is one that will be able to get an admittedly GREAT academic education during this year, or whether they would be with the 90% whose education suffers because they get caught up in the principals power trip.

While there are some great teachers at CPA, the over the top discipline and the principal have caused us to remove our children from the school.
