Barcelona is great I've been going there since 4th grade and in 8th grade now. They have an outstanding staff.
This school is the worst and the staff you can do anything and don't get caught there was a lot if fights and gang members attended that school I recommend you not to take your children to that school
the school was the worst school I ever said my daughter to she was only there a few months and I had to pull her out, she was almost jumped by 12 students, so when I went to the principal about this she assured me my daughter would be safe, and that she would get to the bottom of the problem that day I got a call from the school hey my daughter was punched in the face, when the principal asked the students why they were pulling my daughter they said they had no reason to never did anything, they just don't like her cause she has the same name as their friend, if I had a choice I would not give the school any stasstars
There's a lot of good things and bad. Without going in to it, I found that parents are the last to know about how their kids are doing in school. You have to stay on them to keep appraised. Parent participation is a must if you want your kids to do well. My son is in the 7th Grade, very smart but like most kids would rather be playing video games or watching youtube. School work comes in dead last. I have to keep in contact with his teachers to keep him from falling behind. They have good teachers but maybe not enough support staff.
I visited this place on take your parent to school day I was appaulled over the lack of control of the students, sub par education, and lack of student saftey. A kid cursed out a girl in front of a teacher and she didnt reprimand the student nor console the victim of the harassment. Luckily my daughter only started 4 months ago and is going to high school next year and wont have to deal with a school I wouldnt even send a dog to.
Inthis school you can do whatever you want, and almost nothing will happen. It's pretty great.
i have a 4 year old who is currently attending the preschool and i have to say he has show a big improvment in his speech and confidence in learning i really wish that the school wasnt getting cuts. because the teachers there are a big help to my sons learning.
I love Barcelona and I wish that more parents would get involved. The school district is limited in what discipline it can dish out, so parents need to help out the school as well. Students who have extreme cases of disrespect, use of profanity, and fight need to be disciplined at home as well as at school. As a parent I discipline my student, and hope that other parents do their part so my student can learn at school. No one has the right to interfere with learning.
Best school that I've ever been to. Acedemics are high and I actually learn something that I didn't learn at other schools. I swiched for one year into the glendale district and I was learning stuff I had already learned the previous year and simply felt that I was held back. When I came back to Barcelona it was hard to catch up and the teachers helped me very well. I am a honors kid and the teachers helped me catch up to where I am today.
After 11 years, it still bothers me to hear negative reports from other parents about Barcelona. My 3 kids have all gone to this school and have done extremely well. The teachers have done a great job of teaching my kids. My oldest graduated high school with honors, my daughter will be graduating next year with honors, and it looks like my youngest son will be following intheir footsteps. I am extremely grateful for Barcelona and its staff. Respect, Self-Esteem, and Discipline is what I have always taught my kids and Barcelona has done the same at school. My youngest son is in his last year now at Barcelona so it will be hard to say goodbye to all of my family...so from my family to yours, Thanks and Love You Always Barcelona. Thank You for teaching my children.
On positive is for the first time, he was praised in art instead of ignored or criticized, as was done in other schools. I'm not sure of parent involvement. Overall, I'd grade this school at a D-.
Barcelona is a school on the track to greatness. The teachers care about the students and it is apparent as you walk around the campus. As with all schools there are struggles but the staff is overcoming them. i would definately recommned this school.
I have a daughter who is currently in 6th grade and has been enrolled since kindergarten and have another daughter who is a sophmore in high school and also attended barcelona since kindergarten. We lived in the neighborhood for approxiamtely 7 years and have since been on a variance for the past 5 years. Even though we have to apply each year for approval, i wouldn't want my children attending any other grade/middle school. Barcelona has a caring, involved and eager staff to teach and help each child on an individual basis. What we, as parents, the staff and community, at barcelona need is more parental involvement. I am a very active parent and see the outcome of it in my children. I always feel welcomed from each staff member at barcelona. The teachers are always willing to accept each parent/s/guaradians in their classroom for assistance. Barcelona is a great school!
Barcelona Middle School is to my knowledge a great school. My son has attended this school since Kinder and now he is in 5th grade and very proud of his academic achievements.
This is a great school. I moved about 8 months ago and regret it just because of schooling for my kids. I am now in the process of trying to get a variance or move back into the schools area.
My child has been going to Barcelona Middle School ever since she was in 1st grade. All their excurricular activities are wonderful and I feel safe to leave my child with them everyday. But my daughter is in 8th grade and they have this schedule which you get two electives and you switch to a differnt one everyday. It is so much harder on students and the teacher also so I think they nedd to change it for the next year of the eighth graders and for the 6th graders coming up into 7th grade so I hope mr.Davidson gets this review from a concerned parent.
My daughter has attended Barcelona for 2 years now. I think she is getting a decent education, but I feel there could be more. They have a positive/negative system so we can clearly see how her behavior has been at school. The students receive positives for getting there work done on time and correctly, and receive negatives for not being prepared and inappropriate behavior. At the end of the month the 'good' kids are rewarded with a party. They also reward honor students with skating trips. I would like to see the work a little more challenging. This school is also not a uniform school.
