As far as academics, the school's great. The IB program is officially starting this year. Most teachers try to stay after school to help us out which I find great. However, the school environment is what I can't stand. Students here are very closed off and stay close to their own group/clique. We tolerate each other, but don't communicate. And the school spirit is HORRIBLE. On spirit days, it seems like my friends and I are the only ones who like to participate and have fun. Everyone's so uptight. Clubs don't get enough recognition, and some don't get far because no one goes to the meetings. I just wish I could go to another school...

It is extremely sad when the negative responses on this site is based from uninformed individuals. People tend more to complain than to give kudos. This school is focused on the student as an entire person, intending on rendering the community with a well rounded asset to the community. There is cultural diversity which is celebrated, a collaborative environment which does not tolerate boundaries, and a campus up well connected people that have a common goal...the students. This school will only set the standards and rise to any level that challenges improvement. This comes from the heart, and direct experience with the staff and students of this campus.

I'm currently a Junior at Betty H. Fairfax High School,. This school is very good at academics (IB Program) and athletics. Fairfax is considered a performing plus and one of the best schools is the PUHSD. Our school is currently growing at the moment with academics because its a new school, but is striving to build a better foundation for the students every week.

Prinicipal is extremely uncooperative and malicious. Teachers readily spread rumors and negate each others authority. Students are wild and out of control, due to no enforcement from security or administration. Academic expectations are extremely low, teachers ar merely urged to "rethink" their standards to have a higher pass rate. Parents are uninvolved and difficult with teachers. Overall the environment, student body, staff and administration and parents are disconnected and misguided.

The Performing rating for this school is solely from children that have transferred in from other districts and happen to be there during state testing. Teachers are not very motivated. Classes and instruction lack structure. Students are out of control in most classes. There is little to no homework. My children have attended one semester and will NOT return. I am very disappointed!

Parental involvement is extremely low. The students are treated like children instead of young adults. Many of the teachers seem to have come here because they did not succeed at other schools and do not like being challenged by the students. Great teachers are willing to listen and learn from the students as well as teach, especially at the higher levels of education. The principal is trying, but you can only do so much when the students and parents don't really care about their education.

This school lacks alot of well organized activities for the students. Possibly because it is so new, there is really no school spirit. Parental involvement is low. There have been several bomb threats in the last 2 years. The Principal really doesn't do much for the students and isn't very visible. While there are some good teachers, alot of teachers with 'bad habits' have transferred in from other schools. Had I known, I would have chosen another school.

This school has a lot of activies for teenagers. My daughter and son really like going to this school and coming home with straight A's. Teachers, Security Guards, and the Principal are great!

school is really nice based on that it is new and well built, however there are many problems with students. they need to mature and be treated like adults not like kids in middle school

Betty H. Fairfax is a well put together school. Whose students are very well educated. It is a Perfomance based school. So they Focus on attendance and how well students are academically. This school deserves 5 thumbs up.
