A+ ? More Like Popularity Contest. That is what it was all about at wcms i didnt enjoy it at all i graudted 2 years ago and I am Happier than ever that im gone, Bullying was not handled the way it should have, teachers had there quote one quote "favorites" detentions were handed out to the non favorites like if it was candy. Basically if ur not the Smartest, or Coolest , Or non active , or not the IT kid DONT GO !!!!!!!!!!!!! plain and simple yes i was a cool kid and everything and very well know , but only ONE TEACHER LIKE ME ON A SIDE and at least i think she did , but it took me 3 years to turn into somebody I was not . But if you are not Anyof those above dont waist ur time and emotions for them its not worth it ur better off somewhere else . well GOOD LUCK
The teachers do not like to communicate with parents. I developed a 504 plan solely for the purpose of forcing my daughters teachers to keep me updated on assignments. She has ADHD and most of the time doesn't recall having unfinished assignments. Teachers refuse to give me this information without a 504 that federally mandates they must. It's ridiculous to have to take such measures just for a little communication. They insist assignments are posted on teacher web pages and the online grade book.Too bad the teacher pages are rarely up to date and often the grade book is closed. They won't even follow the 504 plan unless I constantly complain. Funny though, they are very quick to hand out detentions when she doesn't complete assignments! Go figure! If you are looking for a school with teachers who genuinely care about your child's success, you won't find them at Wigwam. I had 1 of her teachers tell me he thinks they do enough & shouldn't have to do any more. This is my second child in this school and it has been the same lack of communication. I have often heard over the years that they are trying to prepare kids for the years ahead...I just wish they would prepare them for today!
This is one of the best schools in the West Valley for many reasons. This is not a "warm n fuzzy" school, however "warm n fuzzy" is not what a student needs to be prepared for high school. The teachers are very knowledgable in their content areas and it shows! The administration listens to parent concerns and welcomes feedback. There are many activities that are available for the kids in every area of interest. The communication from both the principal and the teachers is absolutely amazing! I would like to see more "getting to know you" events for the kids because I do feel like the kids may not know each other very well. HOwever, over all this is one great school!
I have a child in sixth grade honors, and I have been very pleased. The teachers challenged her and helped her reach her full potential, something that very few schools before her were able to do. There are plenty of extra-curricular activities and she seemed to really enjoy her learning environment.
I have two students who have attended Wigwam Creek in the Honors program. The program gave excellent preparation for high school, particularly in mathematics. The teachers are excellent and know how to plans lessons that engage the adolescent learner. Extra-curricular activities and sports are offerred along with high caliber elective classes.
Curriculum is outdated. Advanced children are not challanged, because of others just keep falling further behind. Leadership does not address the concerns of the parents.
Wigwam Creek Middle School wasn't a school I enjoyed sending my children to every day. The school's environment is very biased, and teachers and administrators always have "favorites". I am not saying this because my children were treated as the lesser compared to others, but they were in fact all the teachers' favorites. Even they thought it was unfair. Although WCMS has an A+ status, that doesn't mean they deserve it. The week before the A+ evaluators came, they cleaned everything up and bought new things, and even tried to drill good behavior into the kids. I believe that to be a false exterior; one that was never kept up. Bottom Line: Unless your children are perfect A+ students or those who play sports, they aren't going to get the same treatment as those who are more involved.
wigwam creek is an amazing school that any of your children would be lucky to attend iwas there al three years all the teachers that ive had have felt like friends to me they really do care and if your having any problems in school or outside of school and just need to chat with someone they're there for you. your child life at wigwam is depeneded on them and what they do to make the experience the best, i took part in soccer got to know all thee teachers became and t-a( teachers assitant) which made thee school years great,im a freshman now and i wish i never wouldve graduated there, your leavin a family when you leave wigwam. you gotta be outgoin and social BE A PROUD JAGUAR, cause those three years at wigwam WILL be the best years of your life trust me.
This school is the worst school you can send your child to. You can't walk, step or anything on the grass! the principle always yells. I raised my hand for 5 minutes and the teacher's didn't answer me. The school lunch is not good at all. The fries are always cold. Do not send your child to this school! it is the worst school in the world!
My son just graduated from Wigwam Creek Middle School. He attended all 3 years there (6th - 8th). This age group of kids is a difficult one. My son did experience some bullying, but I have a feeling it's probably the age group of kids - not necessarily the school. After these incidents I contacted the school, and they took it very seriously. They have a zero tolerace policy against bullying and put a stop to it. The biggest complaint I had related to this was P.E. The P.E. coaches need to watch kids better for bullying. My son has an IEP and the teachers that work in the resource room are absolutely the Best teachers. My son learned so much from these teachers. Mrs Hagan & Dr. Smith were wonderful and some of the best teachers my son has ever had. Would highly recommend.
Wigwam Creek is not that great. Honestly? To win the A+ award, they bought new everything and spent weeks scraping gum off the grounds. It was a set up, basically. The teachers play favorites like crazy! I got sick of it. As a student, I did my best, but the teachers always chose the most talented, better looking, and more involved kids to be their 'favorites'. The classes will be jam packed this coming year. I'm glad I left when I did. We are thinking of moving my brother to a charter school for fear of his education. I didn't like it.. I'm glad its over.
This school is terrible..My son always has a ton of homework, teachers are forced to cram stuff in at the end of the year to meet standards. No sports or music to tlak about..Never again..
I have been extremely pleased with the education my child has received at Wigwam. The teachers teach with rigor and are always available to the students. The school provides many opportunities for community involvement; there are BBQ's, concerts, fundraisers for students in need, and much more. The extra curricular activities are well organized and offer students the chance to continue their education outside the classroom. My child is well prepared to enter high school and beyond thanks to the dedicated teachers and staff!
This school is great academic-wise and has great extracurricular opportunities. But even with programs in the school, kids are still bullied, sometimes in front of teachers/administrators faces, and nothing is done! Sometimes I think they are too afraid that the kids will turn on them, which is completely silly. Teachers tend to be a little prejudiced too. Otherwise, it is a beautiful school, and I'll be sad when I leave....
I do not have any thing positive to say about Wigwam Creek and am happy that my child will be moving on to high school next year. The teachers and principal are very rude. The teachers are only good with the 'norm child'
I like this school. They hold students accountable for their actions. Teachers always email me back when I email them. They also have lots of activities and things for students to do to keep involved and out of trouble. Great staff, great place for my child to get a great education.
This school has awesome athletics, band and chior.Everything else, well,is just terrible. Many teachers do not care and wont listen or reply to me.
I have nothing much to say about Wigwam. Except that your child should not go here, the school doesnt care at all. When a child gets bullied they dont barely help, and thats wrong because the 8th graders are very disrespectful to the younger kids just because they think they are the best. I have personally got bullied there and didnt get any help.
Wigwam Creek is the best school you could ever go to. The teachers are awesome and I really do learn a lot. Some parents say that the school is horrible because kids keep getting F's. Well my take on that is that is is not the school's fault. Wigwam offers extra help and the teachers teach you as much as they can when they can. If some kids dont care about their grade then that is okay with me. But when people take it out on the people trying their best to teach the students that is just wrong! I have been at this school for three years and have had no problems whatsoever. Wigwam Creek is an amazing school and should be recognized. If you are thinking of putting your child in this school I think you are making the best decision of your life.
