I am a former staff member at Sun Valley High School, and I feel it necesary I express my honest opinions on this school. Sun Valley provides a safe, nurturing and condusive learning environment for the students. They provide a second chance for many studen'ts because not only the teachers but also the staff firmly believe in the success of the individual. They continue to change their programs to assist the students future marketability. I believe the principal is one of the greatest leaders and a wonderful mentor for many students. I would reccommend this school to student's looking for quality education and teachers.

The staff & teachers at Sun Valley are great. Teachers give 100% effort in trying to get to know the students personally and they really care. I wish I knew about Sun Valley when I first moved from California. I am proud to graduate from SVHS & I would recommend this school to anyone especially those who are behind in their credits.

Sun Valley has been the best high school I have been to. They give people a chance when other schools turn them away. I have never been so excited to to to school and learn until I came to Sun Valley. The staff and teachers are super nice and very helpful. Sun Valley has inspired me to do better in every aspect of my life. I am grateful to have had the chance to come here. I've learned skills that other schools couldn't provide. Sun Valley is not just a school to me but a family.

I would caution anyone who is thinking about enrolling their student in this school. The web site made it seem like such a safe caring environment, when in fact it is not. Academic standards are extremely low and teachers seem to have little or no control. Sudents are basicially allowed to cuss, threaten, and disrupt as they wish.

I've always hated school. When I was a Sophomore in HS I told my parents that I needed to graduate ASAP or I might not make it through HS. We found Sun Valley and I am so glad that we did. I graduated my Junior year in the top 10% of my class and received a Scholarship. The teachers there are awesome - they actually CARE about each and every student... I've never experienced that any where else. If your child hates school, they may love Sun Valley. They care about helping you succeed and change any negative in your life. I would strongly recommend this school to anyone that was falling behind or was thinking about dropping out...get a real diploma at a great school!

Sun Valley is a great school, perfect for exchange students as you concentrate on a subject for a longer period of time. The teachers are helpful and the student body is diverse. I see no reason why this school has a lower scored than Highland, other than a lack of sport programs. I am impressed with the faculty and the flexibility of schedule.

Teachers are of the best quality, compassionate, caring, educated individuals. Safety is top priority, cameras and officers on duty. Open to parent involvement. Concentrates on academics not dress codes etc...

This school isn't only for troubled kids. My child is a 4.0 student, National Honor Society with one of the top AIMS grades for 2007. She will be able to graduate as a junior due to their computer in class program and at home independent studies. They are strict with attendence and Fridays are make up or tutor days. You cannot get this from a public school. Oh, Teachers are top notch, security as well. Happy, Happy, Happy with this school.

This school is one of the most involved schools I have ever seen. They are absoulutly 100% dedicated to helping children reach their goals in life.Sun Valley High is the only school I have attended that made me feel like I could do something with my life, aswell as made me realize that its never too late to make a difference. This school is willing to take troubled kids and try to change their lives to better their future and the future of other generations

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
