My daughter has been going to this school for two years. Her first year was at the Guadalupe Road location, and this year the school was relocated to Pomeroy Elementary School and is a "school within a school" now known as Pomeroy Montessori. My daughter's teacher is fantastic, and she LOVES school and is thriving. She is reading well ahead of grade level and learns so much every day. Her class is culturally diverse and she is richer for it. It has been an adjustment having this school combined with one twice as big, but the montessori teachers have done a great job adapting to smaller classrooms and other challenges. I pray that this program doesn't lose its identity and remains visible to the public for the excellent school that it is, and as its test scores show.
I believe in a Montessori Education thanks to Mrs Brown and Mrs. Anne in Kindergarden. My boy was going to another Montessori school and was not excited at all about learning how to read. He changed as soon as he step on their class. He is the most motivated kid that I have ever known. He loves his teachers, reading, and everything around it. He started to read in less than a month and he loves reading everyday. They are the best! Thank you Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Anne.
Read all of these reviews! They are all fair - this school works for one of my children and not for the other. There is supposed to be integrated music, art, pe, etc. but it is sorely laking. One classroom has fun projects, lots of science, animals, social studies - the other does not. Very inequal! Also some children love working independently while for others it's 'scary'. Be careful!
This is a quality program with small class size, and highly qualified teachers. The Montessori Method is used, so student work is individualized.
The Montessori program makes Sunridge a great place to learn. Students can move at their own pace. They don't have to sit in desks all day. The teachers and principal are willing to work with you and your child to make the learning environment one that works for them.
Sunridge has an amazing academic program that my child thoroughly enjoyed. She is now doing very well in high school and still can refer back to the morals and lessons that this school taught her. I would recommend this school for any parent. It is a wonder alternative learning system that has proved to be very effective for its students.
Academics are excellent at Sunridge, however music, art, physical education and extracurricular activities are sorely lacking.
Sunridge is a wonderful learning system and all of the teachers are great. I went there for k-6 and absolutely loved it, and recieved a high education. I highly recommend this school to anyone. Sunridge is like one big family and nearly everyone who went there/goes there loves it.
I made a huge mistake removing my children from this school due to a move. I hope to be back next year. It's worth the drive.
Sunridge is a well run school and its curriculum and methods of teaching make learning interesting. It surpasses a traditional school environment.
