Ms. Joglar in a second grade teacher is wonderful. She really trys to work with each students learning style. We are so lucky to have her as a teacher this year! Our student loves the after care program as well.

I have lived in this neighborhood 35 years. My daughter went to BTW and now my grandson. We are very involved in PTA and other school programs. It is a diverse school with lots of activities and wonderful staff and PTA. I can't imagine a better school or faculty.

I love Booker T. Washington Elementary because it has a great PTA that cares a lot about the school and it's student's. It also has great teachers that have been there a long time.

Washington has a great mixture of students. The teachers have been there many years and are very supportive of their students. The principal is a very good communicator. The PTA has been extremely active for many years. They do a great job at supporting the students and staff with all the educational and family type projects. This school participates in activities within its community and has a great relationship with its neighboring schools.

The quality of teachers at BTW is fantastic! Each teacher my daughter has had has been above par! There is a great music program with both band and orchestra being offered. The PTA is highly involved in the school even though parent involvement is not where it should be. The principal cares about her students and teachers and is very supportive of the PTA. There is an accelerated reading program that the students are very adamant about as they are rewarded with a store at the end of each quarter in which to 'shop' with their accumulated points. (Provided by PTA.) PTA also offers an Art Masterpiece program in which parents present great masterpieces to students twice a month. The students love this progam! I've done it for 4 years and have seen the kids retain what they've learned over that period of time! Overall BTW is a great school!

Mrs. Powell is an amazing principal. I have watched her in action for the last three years and respect her professionalism. Last week my six year old son decided to walk home and not take the bus and was missing for about an hour. She and her staff were quick to action and guided me during a very difficult and stressful time. I have a total of three children that attend Washington and each has had fabulous teachers. This school is great. I should know I attened it the first year it opened until I went to Rhodes.

My son attended Washington from Kindergarten through 2nd grade. I was very pleased with the teachers. The office staff was quite rude on numerous occassions. The playground individual was also very rude and when my son injured his head on the playground, did not send him to the nurse. I was not pleased with the principle's attitude when I had an issue with a teacher not giving my son help in 1st grade. I must say I really do appreciate the teachers hard work though.

Although I did not give our school highest marks in all areas, I still love the school. My son started here in 1st grade and is now going into the 6th grade. He has grown academically and socially in his environment. All the teachers have a great repoire with their students and they each work hard so that each child succeeds. I also work at this school and have had the opportunity to work in a few of the classrooms (various grades)to observe the way our teachers perform, I wouldn't change any way they teach. My youngest son will start school in 3 years and I hope that he will attend this school as well.

We have enjoyed our experience with Booker T. Washington Elementary School. The PTA was small but very active and full of enthusiasm for the students. The staff was helpful and kind and very involved in what was best for the students. The principal, Mrs. Powel, was active in all aspects of the school, students, and parents. I would like to see smaller student to teacher ratio. I would also like to see more parents volunteer in the classroom - only an hour a week is helpful.

We have had 3 students go through BTW. Overall the school is a quality institution, as can be seen by the overall ratings. However I would like to see more options for accelerated students.

I wish the PTA would meet more often in the evening so more working parents could be involved. My interaction with BTW administration over the past 4 years has been positive in every instance.

BTW has an outstanding group of teachers who are dedicated to the children and their education. They are caring and encourage the children to do their best. Mrs. Powell is very involved and always accessible to any parent and child. Thanks for all your hard work!
My son had an incident with other students that required the Principal and teacher be involved. They were extremely fair, cooperative and expedient. My son's 6th grade teacher keeps me continually apprised of his abilities, homework and grades. I have nothing but praise for this school.
This was our sons first year in school. It has been such a pleasant experience for our family. His Kindergarten teacher is so fantastic! Our son has blossomed, learned to read and is ready for 1st grade. Washington Elementary is a wonderful school.
I question why the schoolbus on my child's route (apparently the earliest bus) drops the kids off in the morning before a teacher is there to greet them; they also cannot get onto the playground yet either--they have to stand around and wait for about 10 minutes.
I love BTW! It's a great place for kids.
