Have not been pleased with this school at all. The staff does not do a good job of keeping the children under control. The kids are disrespectful for the most part. The dress code is not inforced. Have not been pleased with the coaching staff either. Poor extracurricular activities.
DRJHS is a great school! There are many activies for students to partipate in. As a student myself I can say that the teachers are highly qualified and really care about their students. This would be a great school for any student.
My daughter attended this school in both 7th and 8th grades. I was very happy with the school. They seemed to be on top of things, as much as possible and the teachers really seemed to care about the students. They all seemed to get along really well and to take pride in their school.
I attended DRJHS the first and second year it was built, I enjoyed the classes but I felt out of place, being black, and almost all of the other students were white, other than the lack of diversity, the teaching and discipline was great, at times it was really hard, but thats what school is for right?
Good advanced classes, strict with students, my son finds this a good environment overall.
My daughter is in the Honors Program in the seventh grade at Desert Ridge. We have been very happy with the school. The attitude of the staff and administration at the school has been excellent and we have thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I have really appreciated the Golbert School Districts open enrollment policies, as it has allowed us to place our daughter in a school that makes the most of her abilities and gives her the opportunities she would not have in our home district.
The school could do well to hire more experienced staff. The middle school years are very difficult for kids and they could use more support. My concern is that too many kids are being pushed out because they don't conform. Behind some of the rebellion is a kid trying to find him/herself. I know it can be exasperating but the comments that a principal or teacher makes can hurt a student for years. My child was very hurt by a comment made to her. We are trying to work through the angry comment lashed out at her by a staff member.
