I transferred my 2 kids to this school from an excellent, highly-rated charter school where they were doing well enough, but their enthusiasm had been waning. I was really sweating out this decision--unlike our previous school, Sequoia is listed as merely "performing", and the few test scores that are available (mostly in the higher grades)are not too hot. But I know better than to let test scores do too much to entice me to enroll or scare me away from a school. This school has turned out to be a great match for my kids. They're totally thriving here. They have excellent academic teachers who really inspire them to learn. I can't tell you how happy I am to see them so excited about their studies again. Also: participating in the performing arts has given them both a new confidence. I'm sure that this isn't the school for everyone but for us it has been a perfect match for right now. You have to find what's best for your kids. I guess I should add that my kids don't have any behavior issues or learning disabilities, and have reasonably good (but not exceptional) study habits to begin with. They're not performers-I thought that dance/drama/music would be fun & healthy. It has!
I think it is so wrong how the teachers themselves play favorites. Not to mention all the bullying that is allowed, and DONT you dare try to blame any of that on the teachers little angels. I swear the teachers must run these little clicks. I dont know about others but I send my children to school to learn, they arent there to make friends and try to fit in with the crowd, or to see who will be teachers pet next week. This place is a freak show!!! And what do they do with all the $ they earn from us parents? They cant even make shade for our children, our kids eat outside in the heat and cold like animals! Poor excuse for a school. worst choice I ever made for my child. And they are famous for not returning phone calls. Theft rate is also high
The Principal, Mrs. Diva and Miss Lace are awesome. They really helped my kids exceed. The dance teacher Mr. Tito needs new moves. They have been doing the same dances since I can remember. He has a certain group that he favors and ingnores the rest. It is a great place for my kids because they are ADHD and this school is what they say it is FAMILY LEARNING.... They make the kids feel comfortable and at home so the kids don't complain about going to school....
I love this school .. Great teachers, My daughter loves her classes and Dance with Mr. Tito
The schools staff does not know what they are doing, they let so many children get away with anything and they never have any homework. The only great thing about this school is the DANCE CLASS and the after school sports!!!
best school you could ever let your child to go to everything is perfect!
This is a great place to send your child/children. The teachers and staff are very supportive and treat all of the students very well. Since she began attending sequoia family my daughter has raised 1 grade level in all of her subjects. Plus the electives that are offered are fun, stimulating and allow for possible college scholarships in the future. Sequoia family is the best choice i've made for my childs education.
