My wife and I are very happy with this school. My son was initially on the wait list, but he eventually got into Mrs. Kochis' kindergarten class. She is a great teacher! All of the teachers we've intereracted with have been approachable and supportive. My son loves going to school there. He's not being babysat. He's actually learning! As far as parental involvement, the school expects the parents to participate. And the parents are very involved. It feels like the teachers and parents work together for the benefit of the students. They might not have the traditional facilities of a public school, but I'm more concerned with my son's mental development anyway. I'm very happy with ASU Prep, and look forward to my daughter going there too when she turns 5.
I could not be happier with Polytechnic Elementary. This school has the most involved and approachable principal I have ever seen. She has been at every event I have ever attended. She can be seen every day at the school and answers all questions/emails promptly. My daughter's cluster teachers and aides are EXCELLENT. It is clear that the teachers at this school are happy and that transfers to how well they teach. My daughter (and every child) has her own learning plan which you track with the teacher. You know every step of the way what and how they are doing. There is huge parent involvement at the school and a real sense of community. The teachers for the specials such as PE, Spanish, and Music are top notch. I have never witnessed such a positive school environment. I have yet to witness any gossip between parents or teachers...this is unheard of. The after school program is so organized and is a chance for the children to relax and have fun yet they still manage to do homework and learn without wearing out the kids. I feel blessed almost every day that my daughter is attending Polytechnic.
What a great school. my kids cant wait to go every day. they even get sad when break comes around. love the small atmosphere and personal attention.
This school is a fantastic school for students that need to be challenged academically. Unfortunately, our schools are measured by how well the children test in AIMS. With this being said, my children scored higher (advanced) in all subjects at Poly compared to when we were at the Benjamin Franklin school. Great School, Great Teachers, Great Program!!
Wow! I have had a completely opposite experience than the prior post. I have subbed in numerous places and had my son in 1 other school. I have never encountered a more professional school environment than Poly. The teachers don't gossip about the students nor each other. The principal is bar none, the best I have seen. She is proactive, professional, experienced and fair in dealings with students, teachers, and families.
Principal very lacking in communication and leadership skills. Several teachers are very dishonest. Not a good example for my student who I am removing after this year.
This school has been great not only for my son who is advanced academically, but also for my daughter who struggles a bit. Lessons are tailored so that each of them are able to learn and succeed in their own ways. My son is given extra challenges and my daughter is given some accommodations so that each one can learn without frustration and without being bored.
My kids are happy and they are in an environment where their progress is not measured by tests alone, but by how they apply their new found knowledge.
The commitment to teaching and learning (innovation) outside 'the box'. Our world is in constant change, our education and teaching methods should be too.
Love this school! My 9 y.o. just started his 2nd yr. here. I did a lot of shopping around before we found Polytechnic and this school had everything we were looking for--Spanish, daily PE, extracurricular activities and, most importantly, individual learning plans. The teachers are amazing and my son loves this school. He never complains that he's bored or that the work is too easy. My only complaint, if I had to give one, is that the school is at a temporary location and the kids have to make do with its limited size and playground area. Can't wait for the new building to be completed next year!
